Someone posted on my local about how they had a cut off age for when they wanted to be done having babies, and how if they tried to have another she would be over that age, and was unsure if she wanted to get pg then.
This got me thinking about how I always said that I would be done having children by 35. This made me wonder what I would do if I reached 35 and didn't have a baby, would I just stop trying just b/c I reached that number?
God willing I will have a baby in four years, but it got my over active imagination working (I'll blame it on my DH working late tonight). Any thoughts? Do you have a cut off age?
Re: Cut off age for getting pg?
For me, its not so much about my age as much as it is about DH's age.
I'm going to be 28 next week and he'll be 33 this year.
I would like to be done by the time he is 37, but if its one thing i've learned..i dont get to plan how this show works.lol.
FET to TTC #2: 9/29/14 Beta on 10/8/14 = BFP!

LOL Try our ages. I am 27, but DH turns 40 this year!
DH wants four kids and I want one kid at a time, lol. So far DS is a great baby so we are going for number two.
Joking aside I would like to be done by age 30 ( I am 25 right now), but that may not work my second age would be 32 and final would be 35.
The risk just gets higher as we age, plus I enjoy having a young mom (she is 45) and she is now a young Nana. I want to be young when I have great kids, well as young as I can be.
There was a time when I would have said 30, but most people I know have kids pretty young.
Now I'm 27 and my number has moved up to 35 since I want at least 2.
I learned long ago that life complicates all my plans so I try not to make my goals too rigid.
bow-chica-wow wow!!
I am only 27, but my husband is 36. We turn 28 and 37 in May and March, respectively.
As far as he is concerned, there is no cutoff age for him. We will just keep going until, God willing, we get some little ones.
What can I say? LOL DH got the goods!!
This is me exactly, even to turning 30 in April. None yet, but hopefully two by 35.
Mari, I'm almost with you. I have 9 years, you have 13! How far apart are your birthdays? My husband and I are a decade apart for two months; his birthday is March 30 and mine is May 21.
Since I had DD when I was 17 I always thought I would be married and have more kids in my early to mid 20's.
Since I didn't get married until a month before I turned 36 - that plan obviously didn't work out.
I will be 37 this spring and DH will be 40 - I guess at this point I would hope to be done before I am 40 - we would like to have 2 kids though, so we'll just have to see how that works out.
I always said I didn't want to be married before I was 30 but met DH in college and married him at 26. I realized timelines rarely work. Now, I am almost 30 (DH is 33) trying for our 1st. Depending on how things work out, I will probaly stop at 40, but who knows?
I work in various fertility clinics in NYC and see women *starting* to try in their late 40s. I often wonder at what age is it selfish- more about the parent than the child.
That's awesome we are actually 12.5 years apart...
How did you meet?
I'm glad this subject was brought up. I didn't realize we had so many late 20 into the 30's ladies around here.
Both DH and I turn 28 this year. I was really wanting my first child by 25...of course God had different plans as I wasn't even married until I was 25 and turned 26 one month later.
I would love to get a BFP by my 28th birthday this year. If not...we'll probably try until at least 35.

I'm 31 and DH is almost 30. I'd like to have 2 kids by the time I am 35. However, I highly doubt we'd stop while still in our 30s.
We are on cycle 7.
Me too! Except I'm turning 30 in March :-)
Cautiously expecting our second little petri dish baby - stick, Baby, stick!
back in my 20's I would have said 35.
however, I didn't get married until 3 months before my 36th birthday (and DH was 40)
we had our first after a long TTC journey at ages 38 and 42.
we'll try for one more before I'm 40

Honestly, I haven't given much thought to this. I'm only 23 so I have some time to decide. I mostly consume my thoughts with, "How many miscarriages am I willing to put myself through before I stop trying?"
But age...good question. I will give that some thought.
32
I want 3...maybe 4. I'm 26 now and have 1. I would love to have my second when I'm 28, third when I'm 30 and 4th when I'm 32. Wouldn't it be nice if life worked out that way?

I've said 35 for the last 5 or so years. No kids after 35 ever, end of story.
Of course I'm turning 30 in 5 months, we've been TTC for a year with no results, and we want 3 kids. I'm okay with them being very close together (we were aiming for 2 years)- but with the first one taking us over a year the chances of us being done with 3 by 35 are getting smaller and smaller.
I'm not sure whether we'll be done at 35 or done at 3. Hopefully both.

I'm not going to set an age, because I know if I wasn't pregnant by whatever hypothetical age I chose, I would just push it out a few years. I want kids so bad, reaching a certain age is not going to make me all of a sudden stop wanting them or stop trying.
Don't get me wrong, I won't be trying to get pregnant at 50, but I just don't feel comfortable choosing a cut-off.
