I am going grocery shopping tomorrow and I am in need of - well everything, but snacks are on my priority. I will get a case of Fiber One bars at Sams - other than that?
I like yogurt with bran buds mixed in. I know it sounds yucky, but they have the same yummy crunch as granola with much fewer calories (70 for 1/3 cup) and one serving gets you half your daily fiber. They're really delicious, I swear.
Snacks: Tangerines, almonds, vegetable soup (such as tomato that you can sip out of a coffee cup), non-fat Greek yogurt, string cheese, veggies and dip, non-fat milk
PS: You can get fresh strawberries year round where I live in Southern CA. My guess would be that stores like whole foods would have them in other parts of the country (but they?d probably be rather pricey).
Smoothies We make our own with plain yogurt blended with a mix of frozen mangoes, pineapple & blueberries along with a banana, add some water, milk or juice to desired consistency and drink away!
Kashi crackers and cottage cheese
Apples and peanut butter
Ezekial Bread toasted with Earth Balance, cinnamon & sugar (my stand by during 1st tri)
Pita w/ tabouli and hummus
Horizon low-fat chocolate milks (they are great to take on the go)
Luna Smore bars and Zbar brownie (the kid ones) great for the chocolate cravings
The obvious fruit and veggies...I am especially loving clementines.
Re: Recomeend your healthy snacks!
Where do you live you can get fresh (and decent) starwberries in January?! I have done this recently but thawing frozen ones.
Tilla-Moos (cheddar cheese minis) Yummy
I get great fresh berries at Whole Foods each week. I buy whatever kind is on sale. Some healthy snacks I eat frequently:
-Nature Valley granola bars
-low-fat yogurt (I don't get fat-free due to aspartame)
-grapes
-carrots
-banana w/ peanut butter
-string cheese

Hummus also sounds fabulous.
Mmmm . . . I need to go grocery shopping, too!
