Has anyone had their wedding dress made into a baptismal gown for their LO? I'm really interested in doing this, but am curious how to go about it without spending a ton of money. My mom has already offered to do the sewing. My other idea was to use my dress to make a blanket / shawl for our daughter. We could use the blanket for her Baptism and then she could use the shawl for her wedding. Or I was going to keep it super simple and have a few hankerchiefs made - you know, for her something old. (I realize how far ahead of myself I'm getting, but I'd like to do something with the dress).
Thoughts / suggestions?
Re: Wedding/Baptism gown question
My friend found a pattern online and made several pieces from her dress. She made the baptismal gown, a bonnet, a pillow, and a blanket. She used the rest of the material left to make a photo album cover and for scrap booking photos of their wedding and her little girl's baptism. I don't know where she got the patten but I'm sure you could find one online or at a craft store.
Good luck! I'd love to see what you end up making!
I purchased a pattern (at Walmart, before they stopped carrying their patterns). I sent it to my Grandma to have made (she taught me to sew) but she wasn't a 100% so my cousin made it. It was unbelievable. I just loved all the details. I was so thrilled to have exactly what I wanted. The only issue was that they didn't believe me that my 5.5 baby was small, so they made it S, instead of XS, so it was a little big.
I would try Etsy.
