Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Sometimes I look in the mirror..

and wonder who have I become.  I am always in sweats, rarely do my hair or make up, sometimes forget until late afternoon that I have yet to brush my teeth.  Seriously, I think I am having a semi break down.  I need my child to start sleeping more.  I need to feel like a normal person again.  I am seriously so unhappy.  I argue with my husband about insignificant things, I never make an effort to see friends anymore, I rarely even feel like returning phone calls cause DD is always crying or fussing in the background.  Everyone keeps saying it will get better but for me it has only gotten worse.

  • How long does she sleep at night (what time does she go to bed/get up)? Do you breastfeed/formula feed at bedtime? have you started solids?

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. Do you have anyone that can watch DD so that you can have a day to yourself to get your hair done or hang out with some friends? Maybe DH can watch her for a few hours? You need to take some time for yourself, it will really help.

  • I didn't start to feel more human until the last 3-4 weeks.  I really feel now that every day gets better.  DD has developed so much in the last month and I am really starting to enjoy it more.

In addition, I was feeling the exact same way right when DD was the same age as your DD and I called my OB and asked for an antidepressant and feel like it has really helped me to take the edge off.

  • i feel that way every day. i want to sit down and write or read a book, and just CAN'T.

  • She goes down around 7-7:30, gets up at 1, 2:30, 3:30, 4:30 and 5:00.  Not out of hunger because she will often refuse a bottle.  I FF all day.  No we have not started solids yet.

I second that.  I SAH (which I'm glad for) but sometimes I just completely lose sight of who I am outside of milking cow and baby shusher.  I'm amazed at how much better I feel when I can get even an hour or two away from Drew.

And if that doesn't seem to help, maybe talk to your doc?  PPD is very real and nothing to be ashamed of.  Part of being a good mother is taking care of ourselves.

  • I am so sorry. If I was in New York I would have you over for a girls night. I think a lot of us on here need that.

I am the same in some ways.  I don't really talk to my friends anymore, nor do I really care to which probably is not good.

I also would rather be in sweats than dressed up, and if it wasn't for work, I would be.

My DH and I hardly ever have alone time or quality time anymore, but we are trying our best to get date nights.
