How do you get to give things away? I see lots of blogs where they give away prizes after reviewing something and I assume that the blogger is given the item they review for free?
I'd love to do something like that! I assume you have to start reviewing stuff on your own and then get contacted? How does it work?
Re: NBR: Bloggers who review stuff
Honestly, I had companies contact me.
Except Coddlelife. I heard through the grapevine they were looking for a reviewer, so I emailed their marketing staff & offered my services.
I've had people want to advertise on my blog before (I have a travel blog, which is obviously not suited for giveaways, and my husband has a cardplaying blog) but no one has asked me to review their stuff before.
Maybe I need to start a new blog.
Well being a business owner who had used blogs before to review my products I can tell you that typically the business contacts the blog to see about reviewing, if you have a large enough following and reputation then they will contact you. Usually these blogs have a whole info section on reviews, typically they ask you to donate the item as a giveaway when the review is complete, sometimes there is a fee sometimes not.
Blog reviews are an easy way to get buzz about your product assuming the blog has the right amount of following, so if yours is like that then I'd create an info page with details and then you can start pitching to places like HARO (google it) and they'll send out press inquiries for you to people who may be interested in having you review things.
