? for those who had Gallbladder surgery

A number of your responded to my post on Sunday regarding gallbladder attacks.  I ended up having surgery yesterday and they sent me home.  Can you tell me what your recovery was like?  Right now I am so sore and it hurts to breathe really deep.  I'm also very uncomfortable lying down.  I slept sitting up on the couch last night and it's looking like that might be the arrangement again tonight.  Just wondering if you had the same experience?

  • I had to sleep inclined for about a 3-4 days after my surgery. I think that my gallbladder recovery was longer and more difficult than my c-section recovery. My biggest suggestion would be to find pants that do not sit on your belly button. The belly button incision bugged me for a long time.

  • I also had to sleep inclined for a couple of days.  For me the worst part was a couple of days later when the gas came out my shoulders.  That was by FAR more painful than my c-section.  Keep moving your arms over your head and it should help the gas move out faster.  I think that it took about a week for me to resume most activities.

  • Wow, I had my gallbladder taken out yesterday as well! Unfortunately, I am still in the hospital...did anyone have problems wit their oxygen level after surgery? Thats why I am still here. I am pretty sore and the Percocet don't work as well and the Dilaudid did. I have not had any issues lying flat, however.
  • Oh how I miss the dilaudid.  I THINK the issue is gas left in my abdomen from surgery but I don't really know.  They had me on oxygen after surgery but never said that there was a prob with my levels.  They kicked me out of the hospital the same day as the surgery...i really would have liked to stay overnight so as these things developed I could have asked about them.
