I just read that over 80% of pregnant women don't break their water on their own as a sign of early labor. Either the doctor has to break it or it happens once they are fully in labor.
So, I am wondering how many of you whom have had children had their water break before labor actually started? (Sorry if that was confusing, I have preggo brain and can't word things properly...lol)
Re: Did Your Water Break?
With my first I woke up stepped out of bed and my waterbroke before I was actually in labor! But i was 39 weeks and 5 days!
Mine broke.
ETA: Mine broke in the middle of the night before any contractions started (other than a few random BH)
Mine did not break until I was in labor already, 40 weeks.
Of my sister's 3 kids her water only broke once and that was the labor that she ended up needing to be induced for!
Obviously most of us won't know, being first time mom's...Although there are a few mommies here. I'd ask the 0-3 board...
But, most of the mom's I do know did not have their water break. I was wondering the same thing, sorta freaking out that my water would break on my new sofa or in bed or something. The one's who did have water break, was more of a slow leak. In class I learned that if/when water breaks most of the time it's after baby has dropped, so it's only the water from the top of his head down. (If that makes since.....) It's not like the movies where it gushes everywhere.
...although I'm breech right now, and if water broke, I don't see his lil toe blocking the flow!

My water breaking was my first sign of labor...
You should do a clicky poll on 0-3. That's the only way to get an accurate idea. Be sure to put "Clicky" in the subject line and a lot more people will open it.
Mine broke at 38 weeks with DS. It actually broke during sex and it was a trickle. I went in and got tested because I wasn't sure if that was actually it. (It was.)
My water broke w/ my first at 40 weeks and 1 day. I sent an e-mail saying "This baby is never coming" to my girlfriend who was pregnant and waiting too. I clicked "Send" and felt pop - I ran to the bathroom and stood in the tub then sat on the toilet - water works for sure!
Oh and I didn't start having contractions until later - though when they hooked me up 2 hours later they said I was in labor and didn't need the cervadil.
