Well, I'm a teacher so my hours are pretty set However, I have been leaving earlier this year (4:30 as oppsed to 5-5:30), but I think that's more a function of it being my 10th year and not needing so much work time.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind."
- Kurt Vonnegut
Th-F I work 7-3:30 so I can party with DS a little bit more. Last week we celebrated this new schedule by taking mega naps.
It sucks because I work out in the mornings right now b/c of the weather. So I wake up at 4:30-5ish EVERY day of the work week. I cannot wait until the weather gets nicer and I can take DS on jogs.

for serious, sometimes I feel like I am one of the few that doesn't have an alternate schedule. so frustrating.
You aren't the only one : ( I am working my normal PP shift - 8-5, or sometimes later. I used to work 12 hours a day and I have cut back, but I can't flex earlier due to my job and clients. I wish I could work 7:30-4, that would be awesome!
I feel extremely lucky with my job. I work 3 days a week and the hours are flexible. I usually do 8am-5pm and only live about 10 minutes from the office. I do occasionally work on my days off if needed, and am on call every 3rd weekend.
I have not gone back yet but my schedule is 7-3:30 but I work 7 min from home. DH works only 8 days a month.
I picked my company because they are so family friendly. They have a kid friendly policy and I can bring Elle if I need to and just work in the basement office (yes by myself so we do not disturb anyone else). There are always kids in the office.
I'm still working 8am to 5pm. With an hour long commute each way. It's honestly murder - I feel like I work from 6:50am (when we leave the house) to 6pm (when we get home).
Did you drop a work day? Working from home some days? Fix it to arrive late or leave early? Or are you still doing the "standard" work schedule?
you're on here too!? i'm going back to work soon and been lurking on this board.
i'm also going to be out of the house 11 hours and it SUCKS! i wish i could drop a day or work only 7 hours instead of 11 (this includes 1 hour each way commute)
my work wont let me alter my schedule at all
but secretly i'm actually excited to go back, i just wish it wasnt so many hours
did you already go back? how was the first day?
woooot!! I'm so glad you're on here, too!
My work won't let me alter it, either. I've tried. They just won't budge.
I went back last Monday (the 11th). It wasn't TOO bad. & honestly, it's not that bad. I like being back, but squeezing it all into the day is totally starting to wear on me.
You??
that's what i'm afraid of most. It's hard enough taking care of a child but now squeezing in work - it seems impossible.
I just see myself crying on my way to work and running home. But it's something that we have to get use to.
i feel like moving to my UK office -they get a one year paid maternity --- it just AINT fair!
I only work 4 days a week (32 hours). I really love this schedule. I took a 20% pay cut, and even though I don't do 20% less work, I feel like the extra time home is worth it.
Huh, I'm the same, and I never considered the fact that I do the same amount of work for 20% less pay. Interesting. But it's still worth it to have that extra day at home.
I wish i had a chance to change days/hours. The most I got out of my company is changing my 8:30-5:30 to 8-5 so I can pick LO up a little earlier.

I only work 3 days/week. Now, I'm pregnant with twins and will need to start resting more around 26 weeks so I'm going to work 4 half days/week. My job is super flexible.
I work 9 to 5 and I have the pleasure of being expected to respond to emails, phone calls, etc. on nights and weekends as well. So yeah, I work an "alternate" schedule - one that maximizes convenience for my employer.
Re: Do you have an alternate schedule?
before baby I worked 10:30 to 6 M-F and occasionally a shift on the weekends
NOW ---
Either 1030 - 2/3 and 7/8/9 - 10/11p OR 3/4 - 10/11pm 7 days a week.
Hopefully this will all change soon... before I loose my mind
M-W I work 8-4:30
