Well, it is more of how do you count the ozs of what your baby is eating. I see people say 30-35oz a day but is that a 24 hour count or is that a when he/she wakes up in the morning and goes to bed at night or from midnight to midnight. I know this is a silly question, but DD seems to not eat too much during the day and at night she gets me up ALOT to have a bottle cause I think she is trying to catch up on her calories. Thanks for letting me ask a silly question!!!
Re: Question about how many oz a 5-6 month should eat
Good question. I would assume it means a 24 hour period. You'd think that it would have to include the night feedings.
Can you try and have her take more during the day, or she just won't do it? The more you can get her to take during the day the less she will need at night. Do you need to go up a nipple level so she can get more at a time without getting bored? Or are you EBF?
I would count how many ounces in a 24 hour period. Like Mrs. Batty said, can you up her day time bottles a little, even if just an ounce, that way she doesn't need as much at night?
DD wasn't finishing her bottles during the day because she was getting bored with eating and preoccupied with the things around her so we went to a medium flow nipple and it has helped her to finish her bottles. Worth a try!
I count the bottles from midnight to midnight.
Typically she eats every 4hrs. First bottle is around 4am or 5am.
She has 4 - 6oz bottles plus a 7oz bottle before bed. And an extra ounce of formula mixed with her oatmeal.
