I have gone back and forth on the pros and cons of a convertible crib that grows with the baby vs. a regular crib that can be used for multiple babies. What did you ladies do and why? Thanks!
We picked a convertible crib because it was the crib I liked. My daughter used it as a toddler bed for about a week then moved to the other room that has a twin bed in it. I dont know if I will turn it in to a full size bed our rooms are really small and a full size takes up alot of the room.
We went with a regular crib. DD will be moving to her "big" girl bed soon, and the crib will go to the new baby. I just didn't see the point in buying more than one crib, and I also didn't really like how most cribs looked converted into beds.
Also, I could be wrong, but I could swear that I read that Graco cribs say in the manual that once they are converted, they shouldn't be converted back to a crib.

Really? That is good to know. Has anyone else heard this?
I bought one but only because that was the one DH liked... but I probably wouldn't buy one just for that feature because I figure I'm probably going to reuse the crib and therefore wouldn't be able to convert it for a while because everytime I have a baby I'm going to have put it back together for a crib... it makes more sense to just keep it as a crib... but I do like the fact that when I'm done having baby's I COULD use it still so it's not completely going to waste.
We have a regular crib. It was a hand-me-down from 1 of my SIL's. We both loved it which is why we jumped at the chance to get it (even before we were trying for a baby!). I definitely like that we'll have it for multilpe babies. We also have 2 twin bed frames so we can store those downstairs & use them when the baby is old enough for a big bed
We went with a convertible crib and matching furniture set. Since that crib will be growing with DS, if we have more children, we will purchase another convertible and complete furniture set for baby #2.

We bought a convertible crib for DS and I'm so glad we did. DD is due in April, but I don't want to rush DS out of a crib, so I would have had to buy another crib anyway. We bought a convertible crib for DD too....and we'll convert both to their "big boy/girl" beds when the time comes....and so hopefully we'll only have to buy these 2 sets of furniture.
I'm a huge fan of the lifetime crib idea. I'll never have to buy another bed set (besides a frame) for either DD as their cribs will grow with them. We'll get one for baby #3 as well when s/he comes along. I did discover with DD1 that there is no reason to go for the super expensive convertable tho. DD2 will have a Graco Lauren crib which cost about 50% less than DD1's DaVinci, which she chewed on (gah!).

Ours is convertible but that's not why we chose it. In fact, none of the cribs we considered were NOT convertible. We ended up buying the conversion kit to make it into a full sized bed because it's a beautiful sleigh design that converts into a beautiful sleigh bed. If we had gone with our #2 choice of crib I'm not sure I would have bought the kit.
We went with a traditional Munire crib. I was about $400 cheaper when you factored in the extra cost of the convertible crib and the rails. Also I wasn't thrilled with the look of a converted crib. Most of them looked like a cheap bed. Also we are planning on skipping the toddler bed stage. I didn't see the point in a toddler bed at all.
Regular crib. We got Ikea Gulliver, which does convert to a toddler bed (the extra piece comes with it). We didn't buy it because of that at all and I honestly was going to skip that phase. By the time LO is done with the crib and needing to go to a real bed, we might be having a second child and I'll want to reuse it. LO already has a twin bed and frame to use for when the time comes....
