Recommend your baby feeding supplies

We are still trying to decide when to start solids.  We are going for Evan's 4 month appt. on Friday and we will go from there.  When at BRU yesterday, I was a little overwhelmed with all of the utensil/dish assortment, so I thought that I would ask you all what you have used...liked/disliked, etc...  We would like them to be dishwasher safe.  TIA!

Re: Recommend your baby feeding supplies

  • I use whatever bowls. I have some gerber, some munchkin and i think some other brand too.. They are all basically the same. The gerber are a bit smaller/shallower but it doesn't make a big difference. I did buy some kind that had lids so you could take stuff with you, but.. I can't get the lids to stay on tight.. They always spill. All of them go in the dishwasher on the top rack.

Spoons, at first we used the gerber soft bite spoons, they're pretty flat so they're easy to eat off of. We still use them a lot, but I've bought a ton of the "take and toss" ones and we use those a lot too.. they're cheap and as the name implies, I don't care if they get left somewhere.. They say they're supposed to be top rack dishwasher safe but i put them with my silverware on the door and have never had a problem.

  • I love our Gerber spoons and Take and Toss bowls. The Gerber bowls ended up getting a sticky residue in them when I microwaved frozen food cubes. I now warm up frozen cubes in the small Pyrex glass bowls, I like to use these to feed from as well.

I am finding sippy cups with a straw and/or no handles are working best so far. I did not like the Munchkin spoons, they seemed too hard.

I wash all baby stuff by hand now, I didn't like the spots left on them after the dishwasher....even with JetDry!

  • Bowls aren't a huge deal until he could start feeding himself. Most are dishwasher safe, although not microwave safe. I did get a cute little travel set by Sassy. It had 2 chambers, the spoon fit inbetween, and had a tight cover. Great for when we were out and about.

I bought Munchkin spoons because they were nice and long for jars. I think I paid about $5 for 6 of them at Target.

  • We started out with the gerber spoons and they rusted so they went to the garbage.  Now we use the munchkin spoons and loved them.  They have a long handle.  As far as bowls we have a 2 pack from the $1 section at target, then the little pyrex ones that came with some baking set we got for our bridal shower.  We also have the boon spork and spoon set.  Ethan LOVES his spork.
