I really do have to stop watching CNN

Anderson Cooper was doing a special in Haiti lastnight, and they showed Dr Sanjay Gupta walking down the street when someone came to him with a 14 day old baby. She had head trauma, and the Mom had died. She ended up being ok, just needing antibiotics.

I was beside myself, my heart was aching. It was midnight, everyone was asleep and I was sobbing uncontrollably. It really makes you realize how much you take for granted, how lucky we are.

I woke Marley up so I could snuggle her, and feel her in my arms.

    I'm the same way.  I want to keep up with what's going on, but as soon as they start talking about the children that are injured or trying to get supplies to the orphanages there, I'm devastated and have to stop watching.

    I was watching the same thing, the 15 day old had gotten a little bit of a bruised head but she was good.. I keep telling DH that we should adopt a Haitian baby..

    It's heart breaking. I just read about an Ausrailian(sp) reporter that heard moaning and dug thru rubble to find an 18 mnth old little girl trapped with her parents bodies.

    I was watching that also and I started crying, and I told my DH to turn the TV off. I couldn't take it. I also told him that we need to adopt a Haitian baby. I can't imagine how many of them have lost their parents.

    I'm having the same emotions. I was on a website this morning, that is collecting items to send for help, and they are a adoption aid foundation...I was looking thru all the pictures of the children they have for adoption and reading their stories and my heart ached thinking that they have already been thru so much in their short lives and now the earthquake and all the unknown they must be feeling. DD made a 'peep' on the monitor right as I was about to burst into tear and I ran to her room and scooped her up and started to cry. DH just smiled and told me it was ok...

    I wish I could do more then send items to help...

    Haiti already had a huge number of orphans before the disaster so I know it has to be so much worse now.  Check out the Hands and Feet Project by Mark Stuart of Audio Adrenaline (if I remember right, his parents were missionaries in Haiti so when his band made it big, they started their organization with work in Haiti and now work all over the world.)  The band Jars of Clay also have an orphanage in Haiti.  Their charity is Blood Water Mission but I don't know if their orphanage is under the same charity or a different one.

    I wish adoption wasn't so expensive. The cost can be astronomical, and the process can take so long!

    If we were in a better financial situation and could afford the adoption fees, this is something we would look into.
