3rd Trimester

Girls that normally wear "high end" jeans

Have you found a less expensive alternative during pregnancy that looks really good?  Or do you say just go for the Citizens, True Religion or Paige maternity jeans?  I am really looking to not spend as much, but it may be worth the investment.  My friend actually had a pair on she got at Target and they looked suprisingly nice with a longer shirt.

Re: Girls that normally wear "high end" jeans

  • I just went with motherhoods brand. The have several good looking jeans but honestly you will only be in them for a short time. Skip on the high end jeans and spend that money on stuff fo LO. Congrats on your pregnancy.

  • I got Gap bootcut dark wash with the secret fit belly panel. I think they're cute, and they were only $50 or $60.

  • I went with one from Pea in the Pod ($80) and one from Gap ($50)... gap were better quality, my PP ones the panel got runs pretty quickly. Both look really cute but now I am to the point I hate wearing jeans, so they just sit in the closet most of the time.

  • I usually wear Lucky's or 7's.

My maternity jeans are all from the GAP. I prefer the long and lean style.

Pea in the Pod does carry the designer jeans in maternity style - but they weren't worth spending the money on IMO.

  • My favorite pair have been my Sevens from Pea in the Pod.  I also like 2 pairs from Old Navy.  I have a pair of full panel Liz Lange from Target that look cute when you first put them on, but the denim stretches out super fast and they practically look 3 sized too big and as though they are falling off or I am wearing a diaper because they sag in the butt after a while!  Just my own opinion!

  • Keep an eye out on babysteals.com ?I have seen a couple of maternity jeans on there occasionally (Paige maybe) ?I have 1 pair of Citizens from Pea in the Pod ?and a couple from Motherhood and Gap. ?I live in my jeans though so I needed some options!
  • I went ahead and splurged on a pair of Seven's, but they are the only maternity jeans I own. I am petite and can't wear S/M/L sizings, and the Sevens came in actual waist sizes. I was also able to buy them in petite sizing, so it was worth it for me. I wear them everyday, so they were definitely worth the cost for me.
  • I have a pair of Target and Motherhood Maternity that I've been wearing...they don't compare to my Sevens or True Religions but they will do.  I have been trying to stuff myself in my True Religions for the past month and it hasn't worked at all.
  • I feel like, no matter what I wear, I look lumpy and round and, well, pg. I can't bring myself to spend the $ on stuff I'll only wear for a few months, and I can't wear jeans to work, so it seems pointless. I bought jeans from target and motherhood and I hate them. I might feel differently if I was planning on having more kids, but since we're done after this one, I would only get a few months out of any jeans.

I'd rather save the money and buy a nice new pair of something expensive when I've lost some of the baby weight. Smile

This. I only bought a few pairs of pants and one pair of jeans and now that I am looking at the finish line, I am so glad I didn't blow money on that stuff. Save that for post pregnancy goals!

  • I'm still wearing my prepreg jeans...I can't stand the way maternity jeans look on me, so I just omitted them altogether.  I bought one pair, and I only wear them when I have nothing else to wear.  I'm 5'7" with a 36" inseam, my mat jeans are 34" inseam and after one wash are already too short.  They were too baggy on my no ass and chicken legs anyway.  So I'm still in my Big Star & Lucky jeans.  To hell with maternity jeans.
  • I'm still making do with my pre-pregnancy Sevens.  None of the non-high-end brands come in small enough sizes to fit me and the Sevens are nice and low-cut so they button below the belly.  I may cry if they stop fitting!

  • The most I ever spent was $70 on a pair of Gap 1969 maternity jeans, but I have a pair of Motherhood jeans that I like even more for some reason.  I wouldn't spend a ton on maternity jeans unless you plan on being pregnant a couple more times.

Although, I bet the resale is pretty decent if you wanted to unload a pair on eBay.

  • I didn't wear maternity jeans until sometime in my 2nd trimester. Then I bought 2 pairs of Joe's Jeans (one skinny & one boot). I wear jeans to work so they were def worth the money. I wear the bootcut pair almost everyday and I am now 35w 4d. The skinnys I can only wear on the weekends or mondays when my leg swelling isn't bad. They are so comfy and look cute. Two friends had given me a few pairs from Motherhood / Pea in the Pod and I couldn't bring myself to "slum it" for 6 months. I figure I will be wearing these jeans for a little while after baby comes anyway. For me it was definitely worth the money especially since I did not really buy a lot of other clothing other than tees.
  • I bought GAP maternity jeans. They looked fabulous and were only $25 (on sale). I did not want to spend $$$ on jeans and I'm glad I didn't, because now in later 3rd tri those jeans don't fit me any more! Do not underestimate the fact that your butt/thighs could very likely grow with pg weight gain. I was sure mine wouldn't, and here I am - cannot squeeze into my maternity jeans.
  • I received a pair of Juicy maternity jeans and they are comfy.  I don't like the Rock n Republic ones I bought and my favorite ones I bought are from Gap.  Definitely check out Gap!
