We have a flip and love it! It is perfect for just taking short clips of baby stuff and their website will host your clips so you just send out an email link to family members.
Pros: tiny, easy to use, uses regular batteries, easy to share via the web
Cons: some models don't zoom, only holds 1 hour (we store videos on an external HD to free up space on the device), lacks cool features that an expensive camera has, not HD.
We invested in a nice regular camera and got the flip for now. I figure in a few years when we will need more video features we will get a big model, but for now I love it!

Carson Henry, born 39w, 2d, via emergency c/s due to no fetal movement and fetal distress. Seizures, IVH grade 2, brain injury, kidney and liver damage. Complete blood clot in the artery in his right arm. 27 days in the NICU. Now discharged from all specialists, excepts his kidney doctor, who will monitor him indefinitely. My tough little cookie.
ditto the FLIP DH got me one for Christmas and it's super easy to use and small enough to throw in the diaper bag.
CP 3/07 BFP 5/07 - Kylie born 2/08. BPF 2/09 - Alexandra born 10/09. TTC since 8/13 - diagnosed difficulty conceiving due to LP defect. Took vitamin B and Vitex Berry to help lengthen. BFP 2/14 - Missed M/C found at 8.5 weeks. D&C at 9w2d. Partial Molar Pregnancy. BFP 11/14
I just got a Flip for Christmas for similar reasons... We got a regular camcorder when DS was born and I found that we almost never got it out except for special occasions. I wanted something I could have handy all the time and not really worry about it that much, have it in my purse, etc. It takes great video, sound is good, easy to get on my computer. All in all I'm satisfied (as soon as I can figure out how to email them from a Mac I'll be set!).
We got a Flip for Christmas and love it! It's perfect for just leaving out around the house and getting some quick footage of all the good stuff. Just upload it to the computer. So easy and fun!
