I used Dr. Brown bottles. The hospital gave me a lot of the Medela storage containers, so I just used those in the fridge and poured it in a bottle when I was ready to use it.
Your hospital should offer a pump "kit" for you to purchase when you rent a pump. If you feel you want additional supplies, you can do that, but the "kit" is a good start. It's about 40-50 bucks if I remember correctly.
I rented my pump from the hospital and they gave us a starter kit to go with it that included 2 medela bottles, flanges, and the hoses. Then they gave us a ton of disposable bottles that you can pump into as well. Yesterday, we bought another 3 pack of the 5 ounce Medela bottles with the slow flow nipples and so far that is working out well for us. I really like the hospital grade pump (Medela Symphony) and think its worked great in helping me get my supply up for two!
I've pumped with both Medela and Ameda hospital grade pumps and you'll get a kit with it with a couple bottles, but honestly, any narrow neck bottles would work (i.e., not Avent or Born Free). I tended to use the cheap Gerber or Evenflo bottles that are about a buck a piece.

Re: f/u to my renting breast pump from hospital post
The hospital gave me a kit with some bottles in it. I did end up seeing it on the bill, but at least insurance paid!
You can use bags or the bottles depending on how much you are planning to store.
