Hi - I have (almost) 6 month old twins and they are eating 5 bottles (formula) per day, every 3 hours (since they sleep almost 12 hours at night). They eat 5-7 oz with each bottle. So many bottles is getting exhausting, and they do not seem to be very hungry for each bottle and the last few ounces do not go smoothly. I am thinking of moving to only 4 bottles per day and hopefully they will eat more with each feeding. Are 4 bottles per day for a 6 month old ok? I am thinking it wil be about 30-32 ounces per day/per baby.
We also recently started cereal at night, but with this change in bottles maybe I should start adding purees in the morning.
Thanks for any advice - really unsure of a feeding schedule at this age since what was working for awhile seems to be changing...

We aren't on a schedule. I follow G's cues. She is eating 2 solids meals a day--1 jar of stage 2 foods plus 1 tbsp cereal mixed with milk. I try to feed her a 6 oz bottle every 3 hours. I feed her the solid meal one hour after her bottle. She sometimes goes longer between bottles now. Today for instance she went 5 hours between bottles. She had 3 6 oz bottles and 3 oz before bed, and I had to push it a little. So she got over 20 oz. They should be getting between 20 and 30 oz per day once you start solid foods.
Gianna started to get more regular with her eating once we introduced solid foods.
Absolutely - My twins have been on a 4 hour schedule since 2 months, so they are taking 4 bottles per day. Their 8am and 12pm bottles are 8oz and their 4pm and 8pm bottles are 6oz. They also get cereal/veggie at 6pm.
My pedi says after 6 months old bottles can range anywhere between 24-32oz. Now that the boys are 7 months, I think our next step is making their 8am bottle 4oz and add cereal/fruit at 10am.
GL!
