Ergo vs Maya Tie or Mei Tie

I know the construction is differnt but it looks like the carries are the same.  Does anyone have  both or have they used them and found them similar?  The Maya and Mei Tie are a bit cheaper than the Ergo so I'd like to save money if I can.

  • I have a Mei Tei and an Ergo, I like the Mei Tei but I prefer the Ergo.  DD seemed to prefer the Ergo as well.  At almost two we can still use it and she will still fall asleep in it if we are out somewhere with it!

  • It's really a question of whether you want ties or buckles.  I like the instant adjust-ability of a mei tai and feel like it gives a perfect fit everytime.  Others find the buckles of an ergo to be easier.  The best thing is to try them on and see which feels better on you.  If you are in Austin, I bet there's a babywearing group in your area - most have lending libraries or members will bring their gear to meetings and let folks test drive them.

  • I have an ergo and a mei tai. I like the mei tai for short wearing periods, but if I am going to be wearing her for a long time , like at the mall, I much perfer the Ergo. The padding on the straps and the chest strap just make it feel more comfortable and secure feeling to me.

  • I love the Ergo and IMO, it is worth the extra money to have the padding where you need it, especially as DC grows bigger and heavier.  Good luck deciding!

I think you must know everything about wraps!  Thanks for posting this site!  I'm excited to try a bunch out before investing in a few that I'm not sure I would like!  (:
