Yep I've just started bottle propping!! And let me tell you why.... (a little long)My crazy colicky child has an interesting way of eating... he pretty much screams the whole way through. It's hard to explain without video taping it, he flails his arms around takes 2 gulps, screams, cries, spits half his mouthful out. So we take the bottle out of his mouth thinking he's drinking too quickly or choking and then the child WAILS like he's so pissed that you took his food away, so we put the bottle back into his mouth and the process starts all over again. It takes him about 45 mins to eat 4 oz. and we're all exhausted when it's overwith!
So for some reason I had to run to the door the other day while I was feeding him and so I stuck a blanket under his bottle so he could continue eating, I ran back up to see him a few seconds later and the child was peacefully laying in the Boppy sucking his bottle down. NO screaming, NO flailing, just calmly eating!! WTH?? So by chance I tried it at the next feeding, I sat him next to me on the couch on his Boppy, propped the bottle with the blanket and voila he ate peacefully again...
And so HECK yes I will keep doing this. I have no problem with it since I sit right next to him the whole time. And as soon as he's done I look over and he's spit the bottle out of his mouth and is laying there happy as a clam. He only takes about 10 minutes to eat his food now... I have no idea why he's so calm when feeding him this way??? It makes no sense but if it works I'm all for it.

Broken boob FFing, babywearing, co-sleeping, PPD warrior, colic survivor, proud WAHM!

Re: Go ahead and flame my confession.. I bottle prop
That's a classic case of happy mom = happy baby, LOL!
No flames here ... do what works!
If he's eating and happy and you're right there, whats the problem??? Its not like you're propping up the bottle and going to see a movie or anything. I love his name BTW. We considered it for our baby too but it sounds stupid with our last name.
I feel so bad for you whenever I read your posts. You do what work for YOU! I don't see there being a problem since you are sitting right there. If that gives you a minute of silince then do it!!
PS- Can't wait to hear your results!
I have a friend who's LO did NOT like to be held while drinkning his bottle. So they would lay him on the floor and hold the bottle in his mouth without touching him at all and he was happy! Sounds like your little guy is the same way!
I think as long as you are there with him while he's drinking it then you shouldn't have a problem!
