NBR: Need help with paint, again, ugh

DH has MLK day off from work, and told me he wants to paint our master bedroom.  I haven't chosen a color yet - but I think it's a good idea to get the ball rolling on this before the baby is here and it is postponed indefinitely.  Right now it has horrible wallpaper (we've been taking sections off all week), and will probably be ready to prime by tomorrow or latest Saturday morning.

I'm really not sure what I want to do - trying to avoid cool colors, and green (though I could use green as an accent, like in plants or art).  I tend more towards neutrals, and would like to avoid anything too dark - I'm not a fire-engine red person, lol.  I'm thinking light, airy, calming.

I just really need some help brainstorming.  Been on rate my space, nothing is really thrilling me.  I don't have real bedding yet (using some old coverlets, but would like to buy something in the light/cream/white family soon).  My bed is a honey color, keeping it for the time being since it's very good quality (Ethan Allen).  My light exposure is from the east.

TIA all, this whole thing is bringing on a real headache for me, lol.

  • How about a nice blue? I love blue in the bedroom. Check out this link for some good color suggestions:

  • Lowes will make samples for you they are like 2 or 3 bucks for a small can.  DH and I narrowed it down to a few colors and then put it on different walls to see what we liked.  I hated this process but it helped

  • How about a medium beige, or a sand color. Lowes can make you sample cans of all paint, and they are $3.50. Paint them on the wall, and see which one you like the best.

  • Well, "light, airy, and calming" says cool colors to me. Any reason you're opposed?

Beige in a bedroom must makes me want to cry, tbh. Well, beige anywhere. I'm a professional painter and I think there is no sadder "color."

If you eliminate all cool colors and want something light you're pretty much just stuck with yellow or beige, I guess.

  • Check out the paint color bio for ideas- https://sites.google.com/site/thepaintbio/Home

Well, my dining room is BM Patriotic White (blue), LR is BM Rainforest Dew (green), hallway is BM Mannequin Cream (yellowy white), and now the nursery is SW Embellished Blue with SW Antique Cream on the ceiling.  I think I lucked out with all the colors, I'm fairly pleased with them, but the idea of doing another blue or green seems a bit of overkill to me.

I'd love a gold actually (not an overpowering one), just having a hard time finding something.  I'd even like a good cream, which I could accent with green (think pale green hydrangeas).
