Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How many ounces is your solids-eating baby drinking?

DD has three meals of solids a day. She has four bottles of formula a day as well. IShe has 8 oz bottles, some she finishes and some she has 6-7 oz out of. So she drinks around 27-30 oz a day. I am going to ask pedi at her appt. too, but do you think this is enough? I was just curious what other babies are drinking. Oh, and do you BF or FF since I think the amount they drink is different, right?

  • My LO has solids twice a day: cereal in morning and veggies around 6pm.  She drinks 4 6oz bottles per day so approx. 24 ounces.

  • DD eats cereal and fruit in the morning and cereal and a veggie at night. She also drinks about every 3-4 hours and it is usually a 6 ounce bottle. I think she typically ends up somewhere between 27 and 30 ounces per day. I have read that babies around 4 or 5 months should not have less than 24 ounces a day and not more than 32 ounces a day. So I think your lo is just fine, but I would still ask at her appointment just to be safe.

  • Thanks, this makes me feel better she is about average. I guess it is just  because before solids she was drinking 38 oz a day. Plus she sleeps longer at night so she lost a bottle there.
