Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I need help please! (sudden bedtime issue)

Our schedule since as far back as I can remember, has been that DS gets a bottle before bed.
He has started to become uninterested in bottles (He's only been getting one in the morning and one before bed for a while now).  In the AM I started giving him a sippy cup instead which he likes.

Lately he'll only drink a couple of ounces and start barrel rolling and screaming not wanting to drink anymore. So last night we tried giving him a sippy cup and reading him a book instead of just giving him a bottle.  But he did the same thing.

I don't know what to do. This week he hasn't been drinking much at bed when he usually takes 6 oz.

Current Food Schedule:  6 oz sippy plus breakfast at 8:30ish, Lunch and about 3-4oz in sippy around noon, snack sometime in the afternoon with maybe 2-3 oz sippy. Another 3-4 oz with dinner at 5 - 5:30.
He used to get a bottle at 6:30-6:45 of 6 oz.  (He's still on formula)

 Ideas?

  • I would think he isn't hungry enough for the bedtime bottle. Try doing your regular bedtime routine without a sippy/bottle and see what happens. He may surprise you and go right to bed!

  • i dont know about oz of milk cuz we've always BF so i can't measure that.  but i would think the same as the pp, maybe he's still full from dinner?  can you offer less milk at dinner?  i only BF 4x day (wake up, before both naps, before bed)... at meals she only gets water in a cup, but just tiny amounts.  or maybe it's just a phase?  good luck!!
