We are relocating to Stone Oak area at the end of March. Dh and I are wanting to start TTC this month. I am very nervous about having to switch OB's during a pregnancy (assuming I get a BFP before then).
I was highly recommended Dr. De la Garza but I believe she just delivers at Methodist in the medical center (not sure if she delivers at Stone Oak).
I will want an OB for Stone Oak Methodist (preferably) or North Central Baptist. I want someone laid back about the whole process.
I will also need a pediatrician recommendation for that immediate area. I would like to avoid driving downtown at all costs (not good with traffic).
Thanks!!
Re: Need Recommendations Ladies...
I see Farhart at https://www.ne-obgyn.com/ and was very pleased. He delivers at NCB... I was super laid back (never called even once during my pg) and I felt that he was very relaxed and laid back in return.
Our pedi is Dr. Pauli (you can google him.) I have never had issues with him or his practice... in the beginning we had a few longer wait times (~30-40 minutes once!) but that was an exception. I feel that he is an excellent dr. That said, I am probably switching to Dr. McCray(?) (LindsayMarieG rec'd her in a post below and I have other friends that use her) solely for her location. I don't live in Stone Oak and I don't want to drive there for Elise's pedi. You're moving to the Vineyards, right? So her location would also be good for you as she is off Huebner.
I saw Dr Elizabeth King from NEOBGYN and I really liked her. I also saw Dr. Tammy Murdock in the same practice and I also loved her. My friend swears by Dr. Murdock.
For pediatricians I started off at Northeast Pediatrics and seeing Dr. Pauli. Northeast Peds is a huge practice...they certainly have a huge market share of the north central pediatric market. Carter started getting really bad chronic ear infections with fevers and they were never able to get me in for a sick appointment for the same day. Ever. Even if I called exactly at 8AM (when they open and start taking appointments). I swear they referred me to pediatric urgent care at least 4 times. I felt like the doctor at Good Nights knew my son more than Dr. Pauli. I also felt like Dr. Pauli was too busy to really address the questions I had and I was being rushed out the door. One last complaint-- I usually would book the Friday 4:00 appointment 3 months in advance for well baby. This worked out best for me because I work full time and my husband travels TWTh for work. He canceled this appointment time twice in a row and had me reschedule after I had already requested the time off.
That all being said--I switched to Dr. McCray with Through the Years Pediatrics. She is fabulous! I can always get in the same day, her staff is more friendly, they have more of a personal relationship with my child, and they always have time to answer my questions. Plus, I don't have to drive down Stone Oak to get there. She recently added another doctor to her practice and I also really like her (from the one time I've seen her). I would HIGHLY recommend.
Both Through the Years and NEOBGYN can deliver and see patients and Northcentral Baptist.
Dr Delagarza was recommended to me as well, but she's only seeing patients that are already pregnant and at the time I needed a doctor I wasn't pregnant yet. Her practice is Seven Oaks Womens Center and I'm using Tiffany Satterfield from there. It's a very nice facility and all of the nurses and doctors are very nice. I'm really happy there. Here's their website incase you don't have it already.

Thanks! 2 votes for Dr. McCray...good enough for me
)
Yes, the renassaince at the vineyards.
Dr. Gil Villanueva delivers at Stone Oak Methodist and he is great! He used to be with NE OBGYN and has branched off on his own. I really like him; he has great bedside manner, always willing to answer questions and he takes new clients pregnant or not. His office is right across from the Methodist Hospital, 1162 E. Sonterra Blvd. #110

So go figure... Dr. McCray is not accepting new patients. I just called. I think I am still going to switch to Dr. Jacobson (at the same practice) solely for the location... less than 5 minutes vs. 20 minutes!!!
I really like Dr Jacobson too
My OB delivers at Methodist in the Med Center, but I wanted to let you know that even if you don't like traffic, the Medical Center is really only about 10 minutes further than the Stone Oak hospitals! From the Vineyard, you just go all the way down Huebner Road, past IH 10, and take a left at Fredericksburg Road and a right at Medical Drive - and you are in the Medical Center - so don't mark it off your list due to distance!
As I am sure you can tell from some of the responses from ladies that all live in this area - the Stone Oak area (east of Blanco, north of 1604, west of 281) SEEMS really convenient from our neighborhood - but with the traffic, congestion, etc. it is a real PITA. I avoid driving in that direction if at all possible.
good to know...thanks!
I haven't gone in for my 2nd appointment yet to ask about the Stone Oak Methodist hospital but I know they for sure deliver at the Southwest Methodist Hospital... I believe it's in the medical center
