My pedi said to give in the morning and the evening. But when DS wakes up he is SO hungry that he won't take cereal and just wants a bottle?FAST!
I end up giving him cereal at his 2nd feeding (between 10 - 11 am) and then in the evening around 7 pm.
Does anyone give cereal first thing in the AM?
Re: When (Time) do you give LO Cereal?
We only do dinner right now b/c I am not good at waking up before 6:30AM! Once he gets the hang of it we will do some oatmeal and banana for breakfast, and then rice and sweet potato for dinner. Most of the reccomendations I've read is to start it when the baby and the family are not rushed and can enjoy the time doing it, so we picked the first feeding home from daycare.
I've also read that you should only offer cereal after a normal feeding, so I would nurse or give him a bottle first, then do cereal.
But if the second feeding is when it feels comfortable for you, I'd stick with it.
I was thinking that... offering him most of the bottle first, then cereal and then the remainder to "wash it down". I'll probably go that route once he starts fruits/veggies too.

err...mine is totally for a different reason & we're instructed to do oatmeal prior to bottle once in morning & evening, but this is what we do:
6am - first bottle
8am - first dose Prevacid
9am - oatmeal, then second bottle
blah blah blah, rest of the day, blah blah blah
4pm - bottle
6pm - 2nd dose Prevacid
7pm - oatmeal. then bath (to clean him off). then bedtime bottle.
Thanks for your replies. I started Aaron with cereal a month ago and now he loves it. The evening meal is easier for me... I feel so rushed in the morning. Even with a baby, I'm still not really a morning person.
I'm going to try to give cereal earlier this weekend to see how it goes.
And DS primarily gets oatmeal since the rice cereal constipates him.

I nurse first feed around 7:30am, then give cereal and fruit after his nap, usually around 10:30am... works for us. (He gets a bottle around 1pm) Then around 5 I nurse again and at 6:30 I give cereal and a vegetable while we eat supper. Then one more bottle at 9pm and nurse during the night. So far this works for us.
DD wakes up for a bottle at 5:30 and then goes back down until 7:15 so we do cereal and fruit at 8:00 when she gets up and going. She isn't starving since she had that earlier bottle so it works out well for us.
We do veggies at 5pm and then bedtime bottle at 6:15.
