So I was lurking on the 3rd T board reading about names, and someone made a comment about telling people that the names she chose were family names (even though they weren't) just because everyone forgives family names.
I thought this was funny just because I know what some of my family names are, and they just were not options. So I was wondering if anyone had really unusual family names (even from people they love to pieces) that they just would not use for their LO?
Here are my unusables:
Ovid - (grandpa)
Joe Bob (grandpa) (That's the actual on-the-birth-certificate name. I'd do Joseph or Robert, but I couldn't do straight Joe Bob)
Velda - (great grandma)
Re: Family Names too Weird to Use?
Liberatore (my g-grandpa)
Norwood (other g-grandpa)
Ursinus (grandpa)
And LOTS of very Italian names that would not sound good with my now, not-Italian-at-all last name :P
Madge. Well actually my grandma's whole name is Madgeline. no middle name. I figured I could just take out the g and use Madeline.
Herman.
Maude- this was my great great? grandmothers name and my middle name. ooohhh the torture!
Roland- DH's grandpa
Wilene (like I will lean against a tree) my mom's middle name
Pauline- grandma
Boyd- great uncle
Waveline- My Great Grandma who passed last month
Olea- Grandmothers middle name
Luetta, Garnetta, Marietta- All Grandmothers sisters
Bubba (I kid you not his actual name)- a cousin
Doris- DH's grandmas first name
Celso (grandfather)
Betty Lou (grandmother)
Zelda Belle (great grandmother)
Too weird and/or old school!
Harold (my dad's name, although we used his middle name for one of DS's middle names).
Harry (there's 3 of these already though...so uh no)
Toral (again, 3 of these as well.. why? IDK the name's horrid)
Dorthy Anne Virginia (Again 3 of these. Why oh why does my hillbilly family keep cursing their children with these names?)
Golden
Lorraine
Arlen
Libre
Roda -Grandma's
Manny-Grandpa
Petanella - Grandmothers name
Juda - DH Grandmothers name
Cleo- Grandmother
Rossie- Aunt
And I kid you not, I have 3 uncles with the name "Ray" in their name. Comer Ray, Farrel Ray, and Ray. Yes, Comer and Farrel. Beautiful. Good thing I don't like any of those people, so no issues with wanting to name LO after them
Sion - DH's g-grandpa
Sylvester - grandpa
Adolf- grandpa
Guinea- great Aunt
Wilma, Thalia-grandmothers
Gay-great aunt
Marriage: 12.18.04
DD1: 5.19.10
DD2: 4.11.12
I am half Russian. These names are common in Russia but I would never use them. Ever.
Ilya (grandfather) and Yuri (uncle).
Nadine-grandmother
Walter Chester - DHs dad
Norma Arlene - My Gma
Betty Jean - My Gma
Barbara Ann - DHs mom
Just a disclaimer to anyone who might love and use these names (or have this name) that I'm sure this is just my personal taste
The two family names I just can't go with are Harriet and Mildred - though I dearly love those people.
