what forbidden things are you already doing?

Re: what forbidden things are you already doing?

  • I eat what I want, including sugary and sweet stuff. I drink Dt Pepsi, but I did switch to caffeine free.
  • Loading the player...
  • I still drink coffee & wine

I still eat raw sushi, hotdogs, soft cheeses, over-easy eggs....

    I believe in moderation!

Honestly there isn't much that I've changed except for check medications before I take them. My OB is 100% aware of this and 100% ok with it! :)

  • Lol....as I was reading your post I thought to myself "she must have a dc already" lol.  I'm in the same boat.  I'm expecting baby #2 and drink a tall cup of coffee with caffeine a day, and I might drink a caffeinated soda later....gasp!  I have had seafood more than twice a week.  I also carry around my toddler when he wants to be carried, lift his heavy high chair.  Um I'm sure I do tons of other things.

  • I drink soda daily and sometimes have coffee if I can't keep my eyes open. I've had a Bailey's on the rocks (once on Christmas)

  • I eat a lot of seafood and I went skiing.  It was XCountry so it wasn't all that risky.

Not much else other than those two.

  • I have been drinking 1 coke a day since I started my 2nd trimester. It's my guilty pleasure whether I'm pregnant or not!

And I would definitely sleep on my stomach and back if it didn't feel so awkward.

Ooh you ladies are SCANDALOUS! I'm playing it uber-safe because I think I did too much reading in my 1st trimester (you know, every tiny thing that can go wrong). We didn't think I'd get prego without fertility drugs, so we're extra extra extra careful with this LO :)

BUT if its working for you, go for it! To each her own :)

  • I still drink caffeine (though I've cut WAY back)

I eat way too much sugar and fast food

I eat hot dogs.  I can't help it, for some reason they've been so delicious lately.

I sleep however I can get comfortable.  Can't do my stomach anymore, but I'll still be mainly on my tummy except with a pillow to prop me up.  If I'm comfortable enough to sleep, that's how I lie.  I think that if it's bad, my body will tell me.

  • I drink a diet soda (with caffiene!) a day.  I occasionally lift my 37 lb DD1 and always carry my 24 lb DD2.

This!  Dont go crazy and eat a full thing of unpastorized cheese while chugging coffee...but I have a small cup every few days...I have eaten sushi a couple of times...no biggie!

  • I still love pepsi and dr pepper...I just can't give them up!  I still enjoy hotdogs, southern style- all the way!  I agree with PP, moderation is the key!  I love it that my OB will not fuss at anyone, he says his wife is overweight and is a smoker (we know them personally, it's not like he tells random patients this or anything) so who is he to fuss at anyone for doing as they wish! Stick out tongue

Suprisingly it is my first! haha! I laugh because most people assume I am crazy careful due to my job (NICU nurse) but most of my old co-workers were the same way! I just think all the scare is stupid! If you really look around pretty much EVERYTHING can be "bad".....I think if you keep it in moderation & use your brain (ie- sushi from walmart...no, sushi from a nice place you go to a lot....yes). Then things will be fine! I've seen some messed up babies from parents that did everything "right". You just never know!

  • I drink tea, I lift things heavier then 20 lbs. on occasion, I stress myself out too often, I have sandwich meat and cheese but I heat it up or toast it in a sandwich (dr. said this was ok).
  • I have had wine, cold cuts and even a sip of beer here and there. Oh and every now and again I will have some coffee.

wow. i could have written your post exactly in my first pregnancy.  i have PCOS and the docs were sure it would take a couple years and some fertility drugs to conceive.  low and behold, God had different plans and i am looking at having two under the age of two.  it doesn't make medical sense, if you could see the ultrasound images of my ovaries.  i guess i just learned to trust that things will turn out how they are supposed to.

True story!!! And guess what? For all my Dr's doubting (I only have 1 ovary that "works", supposedly), guess how long it took to get pregnant after we tossed the BC?....7 days. BAM, in your FACE, DOC!!!!

I was hoping for some humor from God and getting twins!

p.s. Medical sense, bah, who needs it.

  • I haven't changed a thing.  I also believe in moderation. Smile

haha!  those docs don't always know it all, i'm just sayin'!  that would have been funny if it was twins.

it took us 2 cycles off BC, but we weren't charting or anything like that yet.  i was just trying to figure out what my cycles would be like off BC.  this time, we started TTC and i was preg literally the first time we had official TTC sex.  talk about shock!

  • HAHA I like this post.

I love pepsi, I refuse to give it up even tho I have cut it down a LOT.

    I went skiing and snowmobiling.

I sleep which ever way I want.

I ride my road bike whenever I feel so inclined.

Im sure theres more.... I just started to feel my baby roll around in my tummy so take THAT! I feel like some people (esp. my SIL) who would rather live in a bubble and I believe in living my life. Happy moms make happy babies!

  • My old docs and current midwives never told me to stop eating/drinking caffeine, so I still drink coffee and/or tea everyday.

All fish in the US is flash frozen to kill off parasites, so eating sushi from a reputable place is just as safe as eating chicken, which carries all kinds of foodborn illness.  I do watch the kind of fish I eat for the whole mercury thing, but will have some sushi if I want.

I will rarely have a half glass of wine w/ a big meal, or a sip of DH's beer if I am craving it.

WOOhoo!!! See? Unlikely mothers turn out to be fertile-myrtles! Then you have to wonder why it takes women with NO health problems 5 years to concieve...strange?

I always enjoy your posts! Off to bed :-)

  • I drink caffeine.  Eat raw sushi including tuna, raw oysters, un heated lunchmeat, hotdogs, soft cheese, runny egg yolks, med-rare steak, medium hamburgers.  Basicially whatever I want.

This is my first child but I am probably a bit older than the average age first time mom.

  • I eat deli sandwiches all the time, sleep whichever way I'm comfortable and drink coffee on weekday mornings. I may have to give up the coffee though because it makes me have to pee about every 15 minutes for the rest of the day.

so true, and thanks.  i enjoy reading your posts as well.

g'nite love!  talk to you soon :)

  • I eat sandwiches, hot dogs and CA rolls every now and then. I just started drinking coffee again, now that my m/s is finally gone (knock on wood).

Most of my "no-nos" are work related;  One of my student's desks broke today, so I lifted over my head it to carry it to the door when I realized I probably "shouldn't" be doing that.  Oh well, it had to be done.  I also climb on step ladders to put up their work on boards.

  • I cut back on my diet soda intake, but have 1 about every other day.  Sometimes with caffeine.

I eat tuna sometimes twice a week. *gasp*

I still lay down on my stomach when I'm on the couch, but I've been doing it less lately as I can now feel stuff there.

Honestly, I think that having some caffeine is probably healthier than stressing out about every singe thing you ingest and/or do for 9 months.

  • Good to know I'm not alone...although I never thought I was! I have had a couple glasses of wine, and a glass of champagne on NYE. I have had hot dogs, lift my 24 pound baby girl all day long, enjoyed hot baths, shot my gun, gone 4 wheeling to name a few. I try not to drink too much caffine just in general, I found a great decaf coffee that suits me just fine. My DH's family owns a seafood restaurant but I have to say I haven't had too much fish due to the mercury....although I have indulged a couple times.
  • I'll have a Diet Coke (with caffeine) a few times a week, and a regular iced coffee maybe once or twice a month.  I also sleep on my stomach (my doc said my body will tell me when it's not ok, and so far it feels fine!).

  • I drink a cup of coffee every couple of days - I had to cut back : (
  • I eat deli meat sometimes, I had a turkey sandwich today and a tuna sandwich yesterday. I drink caffeine every day just about, One strong cup of black tea and sometimes a coke, I have eaten hot dogs, I have licked raw cookie dough off my fingers. I had a sip of champagne on NYE. I still go to bars sometimes, but I avoid ones I know to be very smokey. I eat pretty much whatever I want... not sushi though... I feel weird about it cause I live really far away from the ocean...

I've had endometriosis, one ovary removed, and was still on BC pills when I got pregnant.  Odds?  Beat.  God truly has a sense of humor.

As for original post, I drink as much soda as I care for and had a glass of champagne on NYE.  I'm vegan so I don't really do the meats or cheeses ... my diet's actually very pregnancy friendly now that I think about it, haha (even though people still love to nag pregnant vegs.)

  • I drink 1 can of pepsi a day.

When we get fast food or a pizza I drink more caffeine then that.

I drink at least 2-3 classes of iced tea with plenty of sugar in it, a day.

I eat sushi, and do not restrict myself to veggie/cooked fish only.

I sleep in any position my body wants including waking up fully on my stomach many mornings.

I take baths hot enough to turn my skin a blushing pink.

I lay on my back quite often as it helps my lower back pain.

I eat cold cut meats and never warm them up first.

I have eaten hotdogs and some soft cheeses.

I have had a medium rare steak.

I blast my music loud enough, and then some, that LO moves around to the beat.

I eat raw cookie dough, raw cake batter, raw banana nut bread batter every time I make said items.

  • This thread kills me! Big Smile Theres a thing or two on here I thought oh shiit you arent supposed to do that are you? I felt the need to add: constant animal wrestling at my job and my deep devotion to lunch meat.

  • I eat hotdogs, lunch meat, drink soda and have fish on occasion.  My doctor told me just to do things in moderation and that she ate Subway 3 times a week when she was pregnant.  I also eat lots of candy and sweets and fast food!  It's just so good I can't resist!
  • I eat a lot of fast food/junk food. I'm exceptionally annoyed by all of the healthy eating articles I see on preggo websites. I've always eaten like this...it's how I'm comfortable so stop lecturing me!
  • Coffee every morning, diet mountain dew (full caffeine) at lunch.  I've had x-rays, ran a marathon, drank a few glasses of wine, cleaned the litter box a few times, and refuse to give up soft cheeses (most are pastuerized anyway so no big deal).  This is our first baby and my husband is a pediatrician so I thought for some reason he'd be really anal, but our philosophy is that most babies are happy and healthy no matter what you do so don't worry about stuff!!
