I don't grocery shop the same time every week and it drives me crazy. I would really like a designated time(s)/day(s) that I shopped.
I am a menu planner and a coupon user when it is simple. I will stock pile a little bit when the opportunity slaps me in the face, but overall, I don't plan more than a week at a time.
When do you grocery shop? as in what day of the week? Do you do it the same day every week? Don't you have to go back for more produce or fish or something before a week is over?
Thanks for sharing what is working for you.
Re: what day(s) to grocery shop?
We do grocery delivery. I plan and order on Sunday and have it delivered Monday (I actually just received/put away this week's order).
I do usually pop into Trader Joes a few times a week either for something extra I forgot, or just for things they carry there that the regular supermarket delivery doesn't have. I also do a trip to Whole Foods for special meat or produce every so often. But, DS and I walk by Trader Joes about 3 times a day, so it is very easy to stop in and grab something.
Wednesday- usually in the morning. Henry's does "double ad" Wednesdays where you get two weeks worth of sales so I just do all my shopping on Wednesday.
I've never had to go back for produce/fish/meat...I make sure I buy enough that I only have to shop once a week.
I shop on Saturdays religiously, unless we have something like a wedding that takes up the majority of the whole day...but that's rare. I go on Saturdays because DH is home with Ben and I can go by myself. It takes me 2 hours door to door because we eat a lot of produce and I spend forever in the produce section picking it out because I'm not spending our hard earned money on banged up/mealy/etc. fruits and veggies. Yes, I'm one of those people.
I usually have to make a trip once mid-week because we always run out of bananas. And I can't buy enough for the week because my daughter won't eat them once they start to get brown spots. But there is a grocery store (not the one I do my main shopping at though) literally 2 minutes from our house, so I don't mind. I usually just make it the last place I stop when I'm already out somewhere.

Our family is complete!
Mrs.Rebecca- I just got to hit a Henry's (there are none where I live, but hit the Oceanside one when visiting there)
The sweet potato salad and chicken salad in the deli- YUM! I'm going to start bribing my bro to bring food when he visits.
I used to go Monday mornings, but switched to Tuesdays based on DD's MDO schedule changes. I actually chnaged it so that DD and DS are both with me - just because I like to have one outing a day for DD and one day a week our outing is the grocery store (so M/W she is at MDO, T is grocery store, Th is playgroup and Fri is some other fun outing like the park).
Also, we're more likely to have leftovers available to eat on monday than any other day of the week.
I drive a little bit farther to go to a grocery store that has shopping carts that look like cars because this makes DD insanely happy. And a happy preschooler makes the shopping much better.
I very very rarely have to go to the store more than once a week. If I've forgetten something that I can't plan around I try to wait until the weekend so I can go alone or have DH pick it up on the way home.
