Re: Preppy/Traditional/Southern??
Boys: Porter, Preston, Greyson, Skip, Spener, Bradley
Girls: Keaton, Laura, Maddison
I like Georgia Mae for a girl or Luella those sound pretty southern to me
I think of traditional names as Katherine, Elizabeth, Sarah for girls and for boys William, James, Matthew, Joseph.
Southern: Jackson,Waylon, Beau, Jefferson
Sue Ellen, names that end in the eene sound like Darlene, Charleen
Preppy: Biff, Spencer, Tad, Chip, Archibald, Preston
Blair, Langdon, Quinn, Waverly
Surname-names fit the bill. However, since they are so trendy now, you really have to try to use one that still sounds like a surname. Baby Name Wizard wrote a blog about surname-names that still sound more like surnames, but yet work as names.

Southern: double names for girls. Mary Elizabeth, Sarah Katherine, etc.
and sometimes double names for boys: John Michael, John David, etc.
some other ideas: girls; Shelby, Laura, Emily, Aubrey
boys; Andrew, Brent, Grant, and lots of going by initials :JP, TJ, etc.
I second the double names thing for Southern names.. esp Jo/Joe or Sue (girl), Michael or Wayne (boy)
Bobby Joe/ Bobbie Jo...
Caroline
Katherine
Sarah
Elizabeth
Jackson
