Need HELP w/ Mastitis to avoid knife!

Ok, so I've been dealing with this mastitis since 12/31. I've been on antibiotics for almost that long. On Friday my OB switched me to a stronger antibiotic. She also told me if I'm not 90% better when she sees me again tomorrow, off to the surgeon I go to have my breast cut open and drained.

So I've been doing the warm compresses, the massaging, the pumping every 2-3 hours, the massaging while I pump. My OB even gave me some Hydrocodone so I could massage as hard as possible to try to break up the blockage. Nothing. Every morning I wake up and my breast is the same. I even did a marathon massage/pump/hydrocodone session yesterday in a warm bathtub for most of the day. My DH was able to watch DD.

I'm at my wits end and don't want to have my breast drained. This mastitis has already dealt my breastmilk supply enough of a blow, I don't need all that to hurt my supply even more. Any suggestions?

oh my. I wish i did have suggestions. I really do. I just pumped all day for 2 solid days. I mean ALL day. If I was not feeding DD, using the restroom or sleeping i pumped. It worked for me

Sorry no suggestion but I understand the pain. Nothing helped me. I had to have mine drained last Monday and a milk culture had to be tested. The test came back ok and I am still on antibiotics (ones that allow me to feed yet) and I'm draining it as best as I can everyday (using the incision the doctor made) after I pump. It felt a lot better after being drained and is getting better by the day. Sorry if that was a bit graphic. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Good luck.
