Just wondering if anyone bf while pregnant and if so was it painful? I've been having pain and just assumed it was T's teeth starting to come in since she still has none, but it turns out I am pregnant and that is what I think is causing the pain. Anyone have any tips to help ease the pain?
Re: Anyone BF while pregnant?
I found out I was pg while BFing. My RE told me flat out to stop. Well he told the nurse in a negative tone 'if she wants to lose the baby, she can continue'. gee thanks! He's native T.exan so there you go...
Some people have no problems, but I was having cramping and I have an irritable uterus and I'm prone to PTL so that is why they told me to stop (but honestly my good ole boy RE doesn't know all my high risk issues).
I was having cramping and they told me to stop cold turkey. It was painful to stop as even with my low, low, low supply I got engorged. It took about 2wks but now my bbs are good (and small again). Still some leaks here and there, but overall better...
I am bfing and pg right now. My supply is getting lower and I think supplementing with formula is in the very near future for us. It might have been a little more painful, but nothing really noticeable.
Good luck and Congrats!!!
Wow that is interesting. My OB told me I could nurse the whole pregnancy (which I thought you had to stop at a certain point, and I don't plan on doing anyway). I will stop by next month if not before, but that is good to know it didn't that long for you bbs to get back to normal
Try posting this on the 2 under 2 board for lots of feedback.
My best guess though is that it's just gonna hurt.
Tender breasts are a normal side effect of pregnancy and I can't imagine having a baby nursing off them feels good.
Sorry!
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
cabbage leaves worked wonders on me! I know a lot of people say you can BF and some on here do, but maybe ask around or google.
My RE is the most cautious person ever...I can't travel before first u/s, etc. He is crazy conservative - which I love!
My OB has the same thoughts as yours....that I can BF the entire pregnancy. That being said he did mention that pregnancy can cause your supply to take a nose dive or dry up completely, so to make sure that LO is getting enough milk.
I did. I didn't know I was pregnant and was still EBFing. Around the 6-8 weeks pregnant mark my supply started dropping. It physically hurt when I was breastfeeding b/c Reed was biting down on me I think out of frustration of not getting enough milk. I started supplementing and then stopped BFing when I was 3months pregnant. It was really hard to BF and be pregnant at the same time for me. I found that I would get dizzy if I didn't eat all the time...it took alot out of me.
My OB said it was possible to keep breastfeeding but at 5 months pregnant I think you switch over to producting colostrum? I could be wrong about the timeframe but it does happen at some point. You can keep nursing through it, but it wasn't my game plan!
