How long for tooth to come in?

I noticed last week that DS is getting his 1st tooth.  It's just barely broken the surface of his lower gum and you can feel it if you stick your finger in his mouth.  It's been several days and it still hasn't "popped"  How long does it usually take for the whole tooth to come in?

    With Henry, I found his gums swollen with a very noticeable raised bump where his gum was so thin you could see the tooth (this was when he got really fussy too)... that was a few days before Christmas and it finally broke all the way through the gum and you could feel how sharp it was on Jan. 4... so 2 weeks from start to finish.

    oh wow!  i didn't realize it took so long.  i just kinda figured he'd wake up one morning with a tooth.  he's very good durign the days, but nights are tortureus!  i'm hopign some baby orajel might help.

    It does take awhile. I noticed a few on each of my boys last week and they are not that close to be fully up yet.  ANother week or so and they probably will be so it can definitley take a few weeks.
