How much do you pay a babysitter?

I have no clue. Im thinking this will be for a couple hours maybe two times a week.

Re: How much do you pay a babysitter?

  • How old is the babysitter?  Do they have a lot of experience?

For an adult I'd probably pay $15+ an hour.  For a high schooler around $10-$12 depending on experience.

  • I pay an undergrad nursing student $10/hr and she only comes once Olivia is asleep. So really, she's just here with my 4 y/o.

I've known the girl for 5 years and completely trust her. I don't mind paying her so much because she always makes herself available. I can call/text her any friday or saturday night and she will almost always agree to come over.

  • We have a part-time nanny (11 hours a week).  We pay $10 an hour, and I always throw in an extra $20 at the end of the week for gas.
  • The going rate depends on your location. Sittercity.com has a nice tool to help based on zip code. We pay $10/hour.

We have a sitter at a similar capacity that you are seeking when DH does some consulting work. Otherwise he is home with DS.

  • We pay the college girl I use regularly for a date night $12/hour.  I also have a woman I found through a nanny service that I use for week day stuff.  She's CPR trained and has 20 years experience.  Her rate is $15/hour.
