update on Jon.

more throwing up last night, so they put in an NG tube. so, the plan is to give his GI tract a rest.

we were all pumped yesterday morning about the possiblilty of heading back to Austin today- but it's (clearly) not happening. the target discharge date is now the 13th.

sigh.

I really hope you guys get to go home soon. I have been following his progress and I wanted to tell you that the courage your family has displayed is such an inspiration. I had a rare form of sarcoma in 2005 and had it successfully removed by my doctor at MD Anderson via surgery. I did not handle it half as gracefully as Jon has. I spent a lot of time feeling sorry for myself and I did not have to go through a tenth of the stuff Jon has endured. I wish your family all the best and hope he reaches fully recovery/remission soon.

This is a minor hurdle in the grand scheme of hurdles that your family has scaled this past year. It totally sucks but his poor GI tract has been through a lot and it makes sense that it needs a rest! Hang in there, a few more days in the hospital will seem like a minor blip once you are home and celebrating being CANCER FREE!
