Two Under 2

Two Bouncy Seats - is it necessary?

So I was thinking that I may want to pick up another bouncy seat for DS... DD loved her bouncy seat and we have a 2 story townhouse - I think it is going to be difficult to maneuver DD who is 20 months and DS down the stairs with a bouncy seat....So would it be a good investment?Out swing crapped out last year and we will be using a portable one downstairs... so I am not sure if an additional bouncy seat is a waste or not??

Re: Two Bouncy Seats - is it necessary?

  • We had a second one and really needed it.

I doubt that I'd pay retail for one.

I'd go the "borrow from a friend" route if possible.  They get used for such a short period of time!

If no friends to mooch off of I'd hit craigslist or a consignment sale.

I needed a safe place to plop the second one down quick much more with the second than with the first.

We even got a travel swing for upstairs too!

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

  • I borrowed from people. We have a 4 level TH and I had 3, 2 swings too, lol.
  • i agree--sil suggested it when i was registering for dd #1 and it was a lifesaver so i would definitely suggest a second seat and i'm sure you can either get one relatively inexpensive or borrow.

    I agree with this!

We had 2 bouncy seats, a full size swing and a travel swing. I also highly recommend a playpen. I would put DS#2's playmat in his playpen when he was really little, because it was the only place DS#1 couldn't get to him. They do great now, so I rarely use it, but it was great having in the newborn stage.

  • I had like 4 with DS. I had one at "stations" throughout my house. In the bathroom, laundry room, family room.
  • Not for me. All 3 kids pretty much hated the bouncy seat. DS was the only one who used it sometimes.

  • I'm sure it's not necessary, but I'm also sure it's going to be very nice to have.  I had my hands full trying to carry a newborn DS and his bouncy up and down the stairs, so I have 2 bouncies ready for #2 to eliminate that need.

  • We have two and I really love it. DD had a girly pink one that I now just keep in the bathroom upstairs for DS when I shower and stuff.

The new one I bought (gender neutral) stays downstairs.

I wouldn't pay retail price for it either.

  • I live in a townhouse so I had 2 of everything.

For me the pack n play was most important to have doubles of.

Then wait and see if your baby likes the swing or bouncy better.  I had two swings, big one downstairs and little one upstairs.

See if someone you know will lend it to you.
