Trouble TTC

PCOS and TTC

Hi ladies! I hope some are more friendly around here than they are the BOTB board.  Anyway I was diagnosed with PCOS and my hubby and I are TTC#3.  I am feeling much more stressed TTC now than I did with my other two!

I obviously have had 2 successful pregnancies and am greatful for them.  I have also had one miscarriage.  DH and I decided to try for #3 now since I was diagnosed with PCOS and possibly lupus before it gets worse.  Drs gave us the go ahead but I am not feeling very optimistic.

I thought for sure this month was our month (and maybe it still is) but I took a HPT test tonight and it was BFN.  Tomorrow would be my day to start but I have totally not been feeling like I am going to get AF but instead symptoms I remember having with pregnant with DD and DS.  I could just be in my head too.

Anyway after that big LONG message I was just wondering if ladies with PCOS found that it took longer to get BFP because of the hormone levels that are different with PCOS?  Any information is greatly appreciated.  Thanks for letting me vent too!

Baby dust and good luck to all your ladies ttc!! :)

Re: PCOS and TTC

  • I am in the process of being diagnosed with PCOS, and my hormone levels are everywhere they shouldn't be at all the wrong times!  I have my f/u with the RE on Friday to go over results.  We have been trying over two years with one miscarriage last spring.  It definately may take a while and it gets stressful for sure, month after month of BFN.  I got to the point I didn't even want to test, because I always felt it would just ensure another let down.  Anyway, this probably isnt what you wanted to hear, but just know you definately are not alone. And try to remember that you have two beautiful babies, and even 1 is a million times better than none!

  • Are you sure that you are ovulating?  Have you tried charting?  I was diagnosed with PCOS and we have been trying for just over a year now.  Before I was dx and they started me on Clomid, I wasn't ovulating.  It took the Clomid for me to ovulate.

  • I have PCOS and don't stress.  I've been diagnosed with it for 6 yrs.  They told me I couldn't get pregnant by myself and that I needed to be on Clomid or whatever in order to assist me.  I got really sick 2 yrs ago and we stopped talking about TTC.  I lost my job and insurance.  And for some funky reason, I ended up having two months of unassisted cycles.  And during this time, we didn't even think we could even get pregnant cause of what the doc's said, I'm 32 weeks with my first child.  It's not the same thing, but I think one of the things that helped us along...is that we stopped thinking about it.  We made having sex, or making love, fun again.  We obsessed about when we needed to have sex so we could get pregnant, that we no longer enjoyed the sex part of it.

But on another note, my SIL, has the same issue.  They put her on Metformin, not sure on the mg or anything, and about 6 mnths later she got pregnant with her second child (who's now a yr old).  And in August, or so, she got back on Metformin to TTC again.  And she was only on it for a month...she is now 15 weeks pregnant.  So it can happen.

I think, just like every disease/syndrome, it can be different for everyone.  You have the most common symptoms of PCOS (the mayo clinic's website is really good at describing it).  But I think everyone's body may have a different interpretation of it.  I know mine is different from my SIL's.

    Sorry for the long post.
