another rice cereal question

I didn't see this on wholesomebabyfoods- can you store prepared rice cereal in the fridge & then warm up somehow for some period of time (and if so how long?). I work & my kids are in daycare all day so I don't think cooking the cereal every night is going to be an option, I'm hoping I can cook some sunday night & use all week but not sure howt hat would work out.

thanks!

Re: another rice cereal question

  • I made mine to last for several days. I don't know exactly what the shelf life (or fridge life in this case) is but mine would usually last a good 5 days before I'd run out and need more. And while I never tried freezing it by itself since wbf said that it's consistency got weird when you do that I did freeze it mixed with other things and it came out just fine.

  • I keep reading 3 days in the fridge for pretty much all homemade baby food (??). Another thing that doesnt make sense then is that all the recipes for rice cereal are 1 c water to 1/4 cup brown rice, but this seems like it would make quite a bit- I'm starting on solids & you're supposed to offer like a tbsp at a time in the beginning- even with twins, I will end up wasting quite a bit I think? (obviously I could alter the recipe to make less I guess, wondering if anyone has done that?)
