When do you clean your LOs room?

I am always cleaning when DD is asleep, so I can't really bust in there and tidy the place up. lol. Not that it really gets that messy, but I would like to pick it up and move out some of the clothes that don't fit her anymore.

I put her laundry away when DH has her in the tub, but that doesn't last very long. It's like a race against the clock!!

Re: When do you clean your LOs room?

  • Hey girl! I usually bring DD in there when I clean her room. She loves exploring around and playing in there. Lately though she makes more of a mess than what I can clean lol. But, I let her play in there while I put away her clothes, sort through clothes to pack up, empty the diaper pail, etc.

  • I clean DS's room on the weekend when DH is home.
  • I honestly can't remember when I cleaned Emily's room, when she was an infant, but now, at 3-years old, it's the last thing we do AFTER dinner, bath and getting into our PJs.  I give her "jobs" and she helps me get all the toys put away, her clothes in her hamper, etc.  Then, we read books as her reward for helping me and she goes to bed.  :)

  • This is a task that I love doing while DD is in her room with me.  She loves it more than I do.  It takes a little longer than it would without her help, but she loves the piles and "sorting."  And, I don't mind it taking extra time because it is fun.  Usually we listen to music and I have my beloved coffee and she is in heaven.  Whether it is sorting/cleaning out toys or straightening drawers, or pulling and boxing up old clothes, it produces great entertainment and things to talk about with DD.  About 1/2 way through, I am always amazed at the mess we have created, but as long as I am keeping track of what I am doing, it is very successful and fun.
  • I usually do it right before nap when we're already up there or after nap time. That way DS can just play while I clean. I usually need to let him help or have plenty to play with during the process.
  • I either do it when DH is home and can watch DD, or when I am willing to have it take twice as long as normal, and bring her in there with me. She does like playing in there, since she doesn't do that very often really, so if I let her wander around I can get a bit done.

If you cant do that, maybe try putting her in her crib with a bunch of fun toys and making it play time while you clean?

  • I either let D wonder around his room as I put clothes away or clean. But most of the time its a lot easier to put him in his crib and have him watch from there.
