EF Bug removal?

There are three things I dislike about our apartment--the lack of central heat, the fridge that either drips constantly or freezes all liquids within, and the mother effing BUGS. The first two, I can totally deal with. The bugs, however, are really starting to piss me off, and it makes me wonder if they're going to be that much worse when the spring comes. We have small roaches and an assortment of other little bugaboos that I can't identify, and they mostly are in the kitchen (although I've found them everywhere else as well).

The landlord sprayed twice before we moved in, and I bought some roach traps and set them up around the worst spots. But they're still here. I think they're a little better now, but the places they like to be are the places I LEAST want them--in the cabinets and etc (they are IN my OVEN unless I have the oven on, which really grosses me out).

Since I'd like to murder all the little bastards but would like to keep D and the cats very much alive, is there anything I can do that you all know about?
