Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

What does "We'll be there in a couple hours" mean to you?

Because to me, it means you'll be here in 2, maybe 2.5 hours if I'm being generous.  And yet here I am, 4 hours later, still waiting for my ILs to bring D back.  This drives me nuts, they are never on time returning him.  I really hate it when people are late.

  • 2 hours. Couple = 2. I hate HATE waiting for people. There is hardly anything that pisses me off more than waiting on people that are late without a very very good excuse.

    It means what you said.

  • To me, "a couple hours" means around 2 but definitely before 3 hours. 3 is a few. 4 is definitely more than a couple.

  • agreed! couple=2-2.5 ish.

Call them and ask them why they are so late???

  • Couple = 2 unless you are in Utah.

A few hours would have been more appropriate.

  • couple hours means sometime roughly today, but not soon.

Unless they gave or you asked for a specific time - its hard to get upset about something so generic as "a couple hours"

  • I'd say 2 hours...3 at the most.  Going on 4 hours is way past a couple...and I'd be ticked!

  • It means they need to come up with a more concrete time than that

I have to basically agree with this. Yes, "a couple of hours" would mean between 2-3 hours to me, but if you wanted him back at a certain time you should have specified.
