  • Hi girls! I'm Tess, I'm 28 and I live in Rhinebeck, NY (that's about 2.5 hours north of NYC). DH and I have been married for 6 years and have been TTC since Feb 08. I never knew I had PCOS until my RE visit last June. I always new I wasn't "normal" because I only had 1-2 AFs a year, but no doc ever said it was something specific. In 2005 I began seening an OBGYN because of my lack of AFs and they said nothing about PCOS, but did find two cysts (my right ovary was the size of a lemon-it was a dermoid cyst). Had surgery to remove them. We tried three rounds of Clomid but got not O, so we were referred to an RE. Something interesting: I have 5 tattoos (lower back, both ankles, and both shoulder blades) and I have plans to get my whole back and both arms (1/2 or 1/4 sleeves).

Update: I am currently at the end of the 2ww of IUI #4, beta tomorrow. *crossing fingers*

  • Hey Guys! Im new here, but thought i'd introduce myself.

I'm Rachel from Lincoln, Nebraska.  In May I will have been married for 3 years. We haven't used any form of protection since about a month after we were married and have not ONCE gotten pregnant.  I was diagnosed with PCOS  in April of 2007.  I started the South Beach Diet the January 1st 2010 and am hoping to bring my weight down and get all my hormones in check.  I've been on Metphormin for about 2 years now and it has made my periods more regular where as before i could go about 6 months without a cycle.  All i've ever wanted to be is a mom and the thought of never becoming one breaks my heart.  So were relying on the Lord.  In His timing!

We have 2 cats, which are a pain, but we still treat them as our children!  we hope to buy a house this year after my husband is finished with school in June!

  • Hi! I'd like to be added to the list too.

I'm Shana, and I'm 27. DH and I have been married since June '05 and TTC since Dec '08. I was diagnosed with PCOS in Feb 08 after having long cycles.  I am currently on Met and take Provera to get my period. I've been charting my cycles, and working on loosing weight per my OB's request. I'm waiting for a referral to a RE so that I can move forward with TTC. An interesting fact about me is that I'm an elementary school counselor.

  • Hi, I'm Brenda and I am just starting the ART process again with my new hubby.  My previous husband and I tried for 2 years with no success.  I have confirmed PCOS (since I was 17), suspected endo (will do a surgery next month to confirm) and am a thyriod cancer survivor.  I am currently on MetFormin - 1500 mgs, I am going to see about doing the ER as the nasty s/e are back with the normal metfromin.

I look forward to getting to know all you ladies in the coming months.

    Brenda & Phillip married 10/10/09

After 6 years of failed cycles, we were blessed with our little man through adoption.
    B born 1/3/2012. Adoption finalized 12/27/12

  • Hi there,

I've been a lurker  on the nest and the bump and this is my first time posting.  I've been very hesitant especially in the bump forums because it takes me so long to decipher all the acronyms that posters use here.

I'm Jennifer and I live about a 1/2 hour north of Boston near the NH border.  I was diagnosed with PCOS in December.  The husband and and I decided to come off of bc back in April and see where it goes.  I hadn't had a period yet so I figured a call to the Dr. was necessary since an important part of getting pregnant is ovulating.  I had be on bc for about 15 years so my "periods" had been normal.

Funny thing is the day after I saw my GYN I had a period so I held off on using the 'script that was given to me.  Month 2 came and the same thing happend.  So maybe I'm regular again???? We'll see.

I do have another appointment to talk with the doc.  I've been doing lots of research and I have a few close friends that also have PCOS (they've known since their teens and now have babies).  My next appointment will officially be a year of trying with no drugs.  We'll see where it goes from there.

That's my TTC story I guess.

Fun little tidbit about me: I collect postcards.  From all around the world.  The weirder the better.

     Happy New Year!

  • hi there...my name is kathy...i'm 34 years old, living in the chicagoland area. i'm not quite ttc yet, but i do have pcos and know i am going to have a challenge when i do. i already have high-blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, so my husband is scared to even try to have children...he's worried that a pregnancy will do more harm than good to me...any how, i saw this thread and hope it's ok that i included my information. i look forward to reading what other ladies are doing to handle their pcos symptoms...
  • Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great New Year's. Here's to an exciting 2010! I'd be happy to reintroduce myselfd and learn more about others here : ) Dh and I are both 30 and started TTC in May 2009. I never got af after stopping bcp, and in Sep. was diagnosed with PCOS due to polycystic ovaries, elevated testosterone, and no cycles. I used to be regular before starting the pill, but stopped the pill after a few years, lost a lot of weight, and they stopped coming. My doc put me back on the pill to get my periods, and that was the case until I stopped in May to TTC. Since September, I have put on 10lbs to get my BMI into the mid-21-22 range. I have low insulin and my LH:FSH levels are normal. I feel like my PCOS is also a mix of HA due to prior over-exercising and low body fat. I've majorly limited exercise now. I hate that, but it's worth it for TTC.

As far as meds go, I needed a month of estrogen followed by provera to get af. Provera alone didn't work, even though they said my estrogen levels were normal. Also, my HSG revealed that one tube is partially clubbed (no hydro though). So, with all of that, I just started my first month of clomid at 100mg! I'm excited to start, and hope that I O! My ovaries have been twinging since I started taking the pills, so there's hope! I've also been taking DCI supplements. This is my second month, and I haven't decided if I'll continue yet since they are expensive pills. I wanted to try to lower my testosterone, and the doc won't let me try met since my insulin is normal (or even low).

I'm currently just waiting to see if I O on clomid, and then will have CD21 b/w to confirm. Good luck to everyon!

  • Hi PCOS sisters.  Things are starting to get a little better. I have lost 12lbs and 5.5 inches since nov.  Thanks to the IR diet.  I had a my first period on my own (without progestrone) in dec and I had my first postive OPK this last sat.  The RE says that I am going in the right direction and to stay on the IR diet and exercise 5days a week (cardio only).  He still wants my insulin and glucose a little lower before scheduling our IUI.  I have a re-check in 3m.

Best wishes to all the PCOS ladies.
