PLEASE DONT FLAME ME! I'm just weird...
Does anyone else wonder if they baby is going to smell when it comes out? We were told the water smells really bad when it breaks so I just wonder when they plop the baby on you, will he/she smell?
I doubt I will care in that moment, but just one of those random thoughts that crossed my mind.
Re: Really bad and STUPID question
Sounds weird, but I am so excited to smell my new little baby, I love that sweet little smell!
This is exactly what I've heard.
Well thats good to know! The nurse in one of our classes said it smelled and you'll know it!
Plus I see the babys with all the white stuff on them and I worry that whatever is in me is comin out and I just cant imagine my insides smelling good! ha ha!
Now you've got me thinking . . .
I wasn't really thinking of the smell before this, but I was thinking about all the goo on the baby. Then I started thinking...it's gotta be a lot better than getting poo on you, which is very possible when you have kids.
I could smell nothing both when my water broke at home (and continued to leak for 5hrs before getting to the hospital) and when DD was born. I held her right away, too.
Everywhere I've ever read says its either sweet or odorless.
I do find it weird when visitors came in and wanted to kiss my DD's head. Do they realize where she just came from?
Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
I was in the delivery room with my sister when both nieces are born.
Birth definitely has a smell, but I wouldn't characterize it as a bad/stinky smell. To me it was strong, somewhat sour/sweet.
ok. my water broke at home. a HUGE gush, all at once. it was all over my bed, my floor, and me. it had a faint, sweet odor, but nothing gross or even obvious at all. i had to sniff it at least a dozen times bc i didn't believe it, lol.
so, no, no bad smell in the fluid. however, i ended up with a CS under general anesthesia, so i don't have any clue what he smelled like when he came out.
I don't remember smelling anything when they put my last 2 boys on my chest after birth. I really think that you are so involved in the moment that you aren't thinking of anything else but holding your beautiful baby.
Yes pooing is the other worry!
BTW, Where did you get your May baby tag, its beautiful??
