First of all, hello i am new to this board! Here is a little of my history..i have had 2 previous losses (both in 1st tri) ...I had retained placenta with both m/cs which required me to have 4 d&cs total..I developed severe Asherman's syndrome after my last d&c..I had 2 corrective surgeries to remove the scar tissue.. I also had a leep a few years prior to ttc..I am being followed by a Peri b/c of my history and b/c i had severe cervical cramping at 20 weeks..
I had a follow up appointment with my Peri today..She said my cervix has gotten shorter since my last appointment..She said it was 28 cm or 2.8 cm which sounds right?!?! Anyway, she put me on modified bedrest b/c of it and b/c they found a low lying placenta today...
Anyone know how bad this is? or could give me any advice? success stories? I am trying to take things one day at a time and not panic (b/c the peri said not to) but it is hard b/c we have had 2 previous losses and i have a complicated history..Thanks for anything you can tell me
Re: anyone know their cervical length at 23 weeks?
My cervix measured 2.4cm at my big ultrasound at 20w3d. My doctor put me on restricted activity and I now go back for cervical checks every 2 weeks. The doctor said they really can't tell what is going to happen at this point. I just need to stay off my feet and come in for regular checks - if it were to get worse, I'd be put on strict bed rest or worst case scenario - hospital bed rest. She said a lot of times with this, people won't go full term, but she had someone in my exact situation who made it to 37 weeks, so you just don't know. I went in last week at 22w5d and I had no change in length, so that was good news.
I think the best advice is to take it easy as much as you can and hopefully your doctor will do regular checks from here on out to monitor you.
Hi,
I am so sorry for your previous losses and really hope this one goes perfectly for you.
At 23 weeks my cervix was 2.5 cm....we scheduled my cerclage at 24 weeks and my cervix was down to 2.3.
I am now at 27 weeks, holding strong at 2.3 and on modified bed rest. The cerclage is scheduled to be removed at 36 weeks, so fingers crossed I make it that far.
It sounds like your doctors are on it and they will not be measuring you alot, which is good.
Try to relax (easier said than done), think positive thoughts and stay off your feet as much as possible, I really believe the lying down has helped get me to this point.
There are a lot of other ladies on this board with IC and cerclage stories that were really helpful to me...they are posted here under High Risk.
Good luck and best wishes.
I don't know if this will help, but mine was 6 cm at 22 weeks. I don't think my OB has told me at any subsequent u/s.
Good luck
