Babies: 3 - 6 Months

So who wants to make me feel better?

So if this was one of my patients I'd totally tell them just to keep an eye on it and not to worry unless something changes...but it's hard when it's my DD...

So she got her 4 month shots on Monday, and she had a little more redness than normal n her leg that night and tonight its still red, around the injection site and there is an area of firmness there too...I'm guessing its just a hematoma....but I'm paranoid, she doesn't have a fever, she's a little fussy...but she's 4months old...there are going to be fussy days.

So help put my mind at ease please!

  • Totally happened to me when I got my last tetnus shot...red hard arm.  Everything was fine after about 1 week.

To feel better, see Tabor's "HA" post below :)

  • Same thing happened at our 3 month shots.  It didn't seem to bother him when I touched it.  A warm bath will help.  Took 2-3 days to go away.

  • This may sound bad, but my dog did this after his first shots and the vet told me to keep rubbing the area where she got the shot in the future after the shots as soon as she would let me touch it and it should help.

I did this same thing after DS had a reaction when he first got shots and that time it didn't happen.  So, I'm not sure if it was because of me rubbing it as much as he would let me or just that time it didn't happen to him.
