No need to shave
If you are in the habit of shaving your pubic hair, or near it, AORN, the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses, recommends that you stop at this point until after your baby is born. Shaving and other hair removal techniques can occasionally traumatize the skin and lead to infections. If a cesarean section is required, or any other procedure that might require hair removal, the removal should be done at that time according to the hospital?s policies and procedures.
Yikes! I'm not sure if I can go without shaving for 2 months.
Re: Has anyone stopped shaving down there? I got this in a hospital newsletter.

hmmmm.....interesting. I can't really see anything down there, but still I'm shaving with a mirror. I'm going to ask my dr about this tomorrow.
What about trimming not shaving? That might work. (Scissors are scary though)
Same here. I'll shave for the last time sometime this week.
i haven't stopped and don't plan to. My sister has had a baby, I have not. She strongly recommended trimming (just between the discharge and then the heavy period, etc). She says it's "gross enough down there, you want to feel clean". So, I bought a cheap trimmer and LOVE it. I can't see down there anymore, so I can do it "blind".

Um.... no.
I haven't had a full bush since high school and I'm not going to have one when half of the hospital staff could see me. Nope nope nope.
You are some committed ladies!
I think of it a insulation...hee hee...
Every nurse and MD I work with encourages you to shave! Not wax because of how sensetive the skin is, but to at least shave.
My OB/Gyn recommended it and so did the nurses teaching he classes I've been to. They say it can be uncomfortable, and smell extremely bad once the blood starts to clot there, and it will get matted as well.
