I saw an ad online today for a teacher for the two-year-old class in my first-choice daycare. I have had this little fantasy of getting a job as a daycare teacher so I can be in the same building as Sadie, and then today I saw this ad. OK, nevermind that it would probably be a greater than 50% pay cut and I'm not really qualified (I did substitute at a couple of daycare centers for two summers when I was in college, but that was ten years ago).
My company is likely to have layoffs very soon. Maybe this is some sort of sign. I wonder if they'd hire someone like me with no qualifications.
Re: my first-choice daycare is hiring
I am going to research what kind of certifications I'd have to have. I know I didn't have to have any at the place where I subbed, but I'm sure it was because I was just substituting. I'm actually pretty surprised I didn't have to have infant CPR or anything like that, in retrospect.
It's not a career I'd want to have long-term, but God, it would be wonderful to be able to be around my daughter. Maybe they can give me a job mopping the floors. I really don't care, which is idiotic considering that I have a great job and a fairly reliable safety net even if I do lose my job, since my old boss has made it clear that he would hire me back anytime.
