Pregnant after a Loss

My dog stepped on my stomach.

I know this belongs on 1st tri and my dog is really an 8 lb puppy. Please reassure me that my little one is cushioned good in there! :) And do your dogs do this? It's so frustrating!

Re: My dog stepped on my stomach.

  • My dog does this, and he is a 80lb German Shepherd.  I mean, I don't let him, but he gets excited and just does it.  Several times this pregnancy my SIL 95lb Rottweiler has sat on my stomach rather suddenly.  She thinks she's a lap dog...  lol   But anyways, I'm just trying to tell you don't worry.  You'll be fine.  Your baby is fine, and well cushioned in there.  No worries.

  • Our 13 lb. kitty has run across my belly several times during the pregnancy. (With much training, I think he's finally learned this is a "no-no".)  Baby is still well-insulated & doing fine despite being stepped on.

Try not to worry.  It will make a good story for your baby book!

  • Baby is very cushioned :)

When I was 9 weeks my mom's 90 lb. lab jumped on my tummy while I was laying on the couch. I freaked out! I had just had my appointment a the day before and via ultrasound knew that my body resided in the spot right where he jumped.?

I went to the ER and had to demand an ultrasound. The OB came down, checked out my LO and he was perfectly fine. :) She said they are SO protected esp. at that stage of pregnancy.

I hope that helps you feel better. Good luck with your pregnancy! :)?

  • Thanks for the reassurance ladies! I really appreciate it! And you all have some big dogs! hahaha!
  • I freak when my dh gets the dog all wound up bc I"m so scared of this.  But I just had my 12 wk apt and the u/s tech was getting impatient b/c the baby wasn't in the position she wanted so she just started pushing on my belly and nothing worse than dog ever did.  She said at this point the baby is so protected its hard to even get it to move when she wants it to, hope that helps!
