Probably a dumb ?- Can I take a bath??

I know they recommend sitz baths for PP issues....but I just want to take a full on bubble bath. Is this ok after 2 weeks or should I be waiting?

Re: Probably a dumb ?- Can I take a bath??

  • I was told I could take one the day I left the hospital ( 2 stiches)
  • Loading the player...
  • My nurse told me to take as many baths as I wanted, just no bubbles. I think it just depends on the person.
  • Not sure about the bath, but...

I think we've both mentioned this in 3rd tri and here, but our babies have the same names and were born a day apart. Actually, my LO was scheduled for an induction on 12/18, but labor went long and we did a c-section on 12/19. Neat!

  • I was told no baths until after my 6 week pp appt....but I had 36 stiches
  • I was encouraged to take baths. I would maybe skip the bubbles though and just take a relaxing soak.

I noticed this...it's pretty cool! Why did you end up having to have a C-Section, if you don't mind me asking?? When I went in for my induction, that was my biggest fear in the back of my mind...My induction took from 9am on the 17th...to noon on the 18th. Not a short process Sad

  • I was told by my doc that I needed to wait 2 weeks after giving birth to take a bath.

  • I take a bath almost every day. Always done that, and everything has turned out fine for me.
  • I had a second degree episiotomy and they told me not to take a bath until I get approval from my doc at my 6 week appointment.  They recommended sitz baths but not one in the tube.
  • I had 2nd degree tears and was told to not take a bath until checked out at 6 week appt. at risk of infection.
