How did you tell the family you were pregnant?

I'm trying to think of a cute, unique way to tell the family we are pregnant with #2. I've found some cute ideas online, but I was wondering how you told your family? Thanks in advance everyone and Congratulations!

I just called them b/c I was so excited. It was no secret that we had been trying for almost 2 years and they were just as excited as if I would have told them in person.

We told my family at Christmas. We bought a onesie that had the zodiac sign for the month the baby will be born. It was fun because everyone stared at it for a bit, trying to put the pieces together. For us, it was a great way to show them we were pregnant (onesie) and the due date (zodiac sign). Good luck! So fun - my mom and dad both cried!

With our 1st child, we were too excited to wait one second so we called everyone right away. This time, we had our son wear a Big Brother shirt to their houses.

we gave both sets of parents a baby blanket [my parents on the 23rd, DH's on christmas morning]. and we told my extended family at our big christmas eve dinner. my dad said the prayer and then said "let's let orlandolovin go first since she's eating for 2." it was really fun

With DS my Mom guessed before I even finished my "I have something to tell you.." sentence. With this one she knew we were trying so I just told her one day when we were talking on the phone. With DH's family we had DS wear a big brother shirt over there. It took them FOREVER to get it! They thought he was wearing a hand-me-down, lol!

We told my parents on Christmas. We wrapped up a book called, "The Grandparents Handbook." It took my parents a minute to get it, but once I started crying they knew.

I have also heard of people getting their families together for a picture and then you or your DH says, "Everyone say Sally's pregnant!" And then the person taking the picture can capture everyone's reactions.

With #1, my dad was sick in the hospital so we brought him a baby christmas stocking (it's a tradition in my family- that's the way you tell them you're pregnant. It was started by my mom who just hung up an extra stocking at christmas and my dad figured it out. Now all in the next generation give a stocking and we all immediately know what it means).

This time I planned on telling everyone at christmas but I had a rocky beginning with the pregnancy so we are waiting until the 1st trimester is over. That will be Valentine's weekend so I plan on having my son give nana a card saying happy valentine's and then signing it from both my son and the new baby.

We did a video compliation of some clips from YouTube and included our ultrasound picture at the end with the due date. It was hillarious, and our family understood instantly and cried with joy through the rest of it. It was perfect for us!

We told our parents on Christmas day. We gave them picture frames that had a sheet in them that said "Reserved for Baby Lastname, Expected Arrival August 2010."

It was cute.

We are waiting until Valentine's Day to tell everyone (except a few close friends to keep us sane) because I've already had a false preg/false MC. We ordered a onesie that says "I love my grandparents" off eBay for $6 (including shipping!!!) and we are going to put it in a Valentine's candy box. DH is going to be standing by with the camera.

We've told DH parents on New Years day. They live overseas so we used the web cam and I made a shirt that said Bun in the oven. We wanted to see how long it would take them to get it...not very long and they were so excited. We're waiting to tell my parents until we see them in 2.5 weeks at my sisters wedding in Puerto Rico (they live in WI). We're hoping to get in for out first u/s before we leave but haven't figured out exactly how we're going to tell them yet.

Dear Grandpa and Grandma,

I do not have a face to see,
Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss.
I don't yet have a name.

Both of our moms are out of towners, and we are waiting a bit to tell. My mom has this phrase she says all the time: "I'm the Momma." For her birthday, I'm buying her an apron (her wish list) with the phrase "I'm the Nana" on it (cafepress.com). For my MIL, we're planning on sending her congratulatory flowers after week 12... so she'll get two surprises!
