We went to my sister's house to get the crib we gave her that my kids never used. Maile's decided she hates sleeping with us and prefers her own space. She will fight us for an hour if we try to put her to sleep, but the moment you lay her down in the pack-n-play, she goes right to sleep without a tear or whimper.
Most people are ready to get their kids out of their beds, but I really loved co-sleeping. I've been co-sleeping at least part-time for almost 4 years...it will be a change. I was bringing her to my bed when I went to sleep, but the last couple of nights, she cries and says uh-oh, while pointing to her pack n play.
I wasn't quite prepared for this yet.
Re: :( Done co-sleeping?
Dd was the same way. She co-slept until she was a year old, then ended up in a PNP. Turns out that once she started sleeping in the PNP that she totally stopped tossing and turning, and slept longer. She also oddly enough goes to sleep much more easily by herself than when you're in bed right next to her.
She was right around Maile's age when she started pointing to her PNP and demanding we put her in it when she was really tired.
Total opposite of ds in that regard, LOL.
I'm kinda hoping this! I really do love sleeping next to my babies. I figure they're only little for so long, and it's special to me. Ethan and Bella still sleep with me occasionally, so I know it's probably not the last time she'll ever sleep in my bed. It's odd how much better she sleeps in there, though.
Ha! She'll still let me wear her sometimes at least. She was against that for awhile, but she likes it again
Jackson was like that pretty much from birth. I went into the whole sleep thing w/ the attitude of whatever works and started him in our room. He was a pretty loud sleeper so we'd often put him in his crib in his room, but it really became clear that he liked to go to sleep on his own around 3 months old when bedtime of rocking, etc. became a giant mess of a production. One night I was pretty frustrated after hours of this, including trying for multiple nights to just have him lay down with me, that I put him in his crib and planned to shut the door for 5 minutes until I could calm down.
Ummm, yeah... he was asleep w/in 2-3 minutes with minimal fussing/making noises.
He just cannot calm down w/ outside distractions of any kind... he's still the same. If we're sleeping w/ him while traveling, we put him down long before we go to bed so he can get to sleep on his own.
I will say with Jackson, despite needing to give him a few minutes to himself to go to sleep, he is a really really flexible sleeper and will pretty much sleep in any bed, cot, whatever.
We often sleep in the same bed with him while traveling, and it's no big deal. If it works, we put him down before we are going to bed so he is asleep when we go to bed. We have had to go to bed at the same time with him, but we just ignore him and roll over [nice, right? lol] because he will try to play with us or toss/turn a lot at the beginning and just in general fuss around. He does eventually calm down and get a decent night's sleep when that happens.
I'm sure it'll work out fine!
