DD started to STTN at 8 weeks. At 4 months she stopped and I realized that my BM wasn't holding her over for the night so I supplemented with formula with rice cereal in it. She has been sleeping for 8 hrs straight then she nurses for 10 minutes then she sleeps for another 3-4 hours and she is up for the day. Elle has an enormous appetite!!
Try supplementing with formula at night, I didnt want to start but Im glad I did!!
Most nights, yes. I'd say once a week he wakes up during the night, but goes right back to sleep when I bring him in our room. By the time he wakes up it's usually around 3am and I get up for work at 5am, so I don't really mind him sleeping on me for two hours. I don't really know how I did it. He just started sleeping longer and longer stretches, and the night before I returned to work and he started daycare he STTN.
LOL...no! Not even close. He did at 4 months for 4 days in a row, right after his wakeful ended. He hasn't done it since then. Take heart, we are in the MAJORITY, most babies don't (according to all the studies mentioned in everything I've read).

Not here. She wakes up at least 1-2 times per night; when she gets up at around 5, I bring her to bed with me and she'll sleep another 2-3 hours. While some may say that's a bad habit, I dont' care. I love the extra sleep and snuggling with DD.
Maybe 25% of nights are good - waking once (or very rarely not at all) before his usual 4-6am wakeup to eat (after which he goes back to sleep until around 7). About 50% of nights are okay - waking a few times but goes back down fairly easily. The other 25% are horrible - up several times, difficult to get back down, maybe up for 1-2 h in the middle of the night, or won't go back to sleep after eating in the early am. He's been a total enigma re: sleep since 3 mo.
We bedshared until about a week ago. DS would eat once or twice in an 11 hour stretch but never fully awoke. However, we are trying to transition him to his crib and he has had 4 full meals each night he has not been in his bed. We have his crib mattress on the floor with me sleeping on pillows next to him so I don't think it is that he wants me more than food since I am right there. I think he had been eating at night more than I realized.
*knocks on wood* Yes, but only recently. Everything I've read indicates it has nothing to do with what or how much they eat--sleep is controlled by the brain, not the stomach. (Weissbluth--Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child)
DH and I figured out around the 6 month mark that WE were keeping her awake and causing more night wakings--by attempting to still swaddle her (she kept breaking out of it and didn't know what to do with herself), and by me nursing her completely to sleep.
We started sleep training via the Sleep Easy Solution (a variation of Ferber) the day after she turned 6 months old. Not because she was 6 months, but because that's the first vacation DH was able to take, so I had him to help me at night AND during the days.
Life since then has been so much better overall. DD used to wake every 1-2 hours; she did that for a little over a month, every night. Now she sleeps from 6:30 or so until 5 AM, then I feed her, and she goes back down again till around 7. SO FAR that's been the case. (I don't want to risk angering the sleep gods!) I'm afraid I'll jinx it all.
We've had minor setbacks, like tonight when she rolled over on her tummy and was PISSY. But overall, it's been such a huge improvement. I really recommend that book; makes sleep training a little less confusing. HTH
nope..up 1-2 times a night usually. she has a cold now and for the past 5 nights..up every few hours...i've given up on the idea of STTN..she'll do it when she's ready....
Depends on your definition of STTN. A bf baby is sttn at 5 hours, and if you use that as the definition, then yes. If you are using a regular adults night sleep, then no. She sleeps for about 5-6 hours and then wakes, nurses, then sleeps for another 3-4. Then she's up again.
I guess so, but he doesn't sleep very long (in total) at night. He won't go to bed before 10 or 11, and he wakes up for the day at 7 or 8. He usually makes it through the night without waking, but it seems like most babies sleep a lot longer than 8 or 9 hours...

Both my babies were EBF.
DD STTN at 3 months. DS STTN at 10 months. I think it's all about personality and doesnt have much to do with what they eat
So jealous!

Let's try this again...
