3rd Trimester

Baby is not head down yet

Should I be concerned? I'm 36 weeks and she has yet to go in a head down position. I think she's sideways. Anywho, I go to the dr. on monday and I'm sure this is something we will discuss. Just very frustrating as I'd like to try and avoid a C-section if at all possible.

Re: Baby is not head down yet

  • I am sure she still has time but my doula suggested NOT sitting leaned back on the couch because that promotes the baby going head up also get on all fours and do pelvic thrusts to help turn her.

  • Some people think pelvic tilts can help with this.  Get onto all fours on the ground and bend your back into a curve, stretching everything out.  Hold it like that and then release.  Try doing that for five or ten minutes a day and maybe it will help?  You can also try grabbing a bag of frozen peas or something from the freezer and placing it on the top of your belly.

Baby will try to move away from the cold and it might get him into position.

  • I'm popping by from the baby boards..

My DD flipped at 37 weeks, but it is tough after about 36 because it gets pretty cramped in there.  There are some methods you can try to flip them, like an external version at the Drs office or chiropractic methods.

  • Mine is not down yet either. I'm sure your doc will discuss options with you. Check out spinningbabies.com for some more tips to help them turn.
